The Invitation

Chapter 3

Imani's home
5 AM

All you hear is shuffling and things slamming about in the house. Imani zooms by Devin as she grabs the last few things she needs. Devin laughs " Slow down you almost knocked me over." Imani chuckled at him " My bad I gotta pick up Summer and Lauyrn should be here soon to drop Kason off here as well." Devin laughs kissing her on top of my head " Relax you'll make the flight." Imani relaxed a little right as she was about to say something the doorbell rung. They looked at each other " I guess that's Lauyrn." I go open the door for her her " Hey come in I'm just grabbing few more things then we can go." " Hey little man bring it in." Kason jumps to give Devin a high five. " And hello to you ms Lauyrn." Lauyrn just laughs at him " I'm doing good Mr. Brown how about you?" Right before Devin could answer, " You ready to head out and the queen is rushing me to pick her up." Imani said Both Devin and Lauyrn instantly straighten up, " Yea I'm ready let's go Kason come here and give me hug before I go." Imani turns to Devin and give him a kiss whispering to him " I love you I'll see you when I get by then I'll be known as Imani Brown." Devin smiles at her " I love you too."

We left the house and headed to the car. I turned to Lauyrn " You ready to pick up the wicked witch of the west." I said. She laughs " yea let's pick her mean ass up"

As we pull up to Summer house I sigh " I hope Sade isn't late as usual." Lauyrn glances at me " I don't know why you invite her knowing she going to be late." She said. I glared at her a little and just ended up sighing " I invite her because she's one of best friends would you liked if I excluded you from stuff." She just huff and turn to look out the window.

I hear the back door open and then back door slammed.

"I can't believe you really got going to on a trip unexpectedly." Summer said as she plopped her Louis Vuitton tote bag by her with attitude.

" Can you stop whining and complaining once. You be acting so ungrateful ." Lauryn spoke up making Summer shifted to her way as she sit in backseat.

I sighed, cause I know it's was a lot bickering bout to happen like always.

" I'm ungrateful.?" Summer asked.

"Yes, you are ungrateful. You always been." Lauryn spoke back. Summer nodded her head.

"I'm ungrateful but I let you and your son—"

"Summer, please not now." I said sternly as Summer just shifted her body again and looked out the window mumbling to herself.

I just looked at Lauryn whose seem doing same time but quiet, looking outside for a second before glancing at me.

"You can go now." Lauryn spoke softly focusing attention by the window.

"Okay." I said back softly driving out Summer's drive way and on our way down the road to the airport.

As we get pass check in and security we headed to our gate. I'm checking my phone looking around. Suddenly Lauyrn laughs we look at confused. " I knew she was going to be late as fucking always." Lauyrn said. I scoffed at her " she's coming, she might've gotten caught up with traffic." " Sure she caught up in traffic, you gonna keep making excuses for her." I just looked at her and walk away. As I was heading to the bathroom I see Sade run up with Katrina.

I instantly pulled Sade to the side whispering angrily at her " Why she here?" Sade frowned at me " I invited her she doesn't have anybody really and I wanted her to experience this for once she's a good friend of mine. I know I should've asked and I'm sorry for that. I sighed " Whatever I'm not paying for her expenses that's your problem and we gate 3a by the way." I told her as I walk into the bathroom. Once I get done using the bathroom.When I get to the sink I look at the mirror frowning at myself while I'm washing my hands glancing at my ring on my hand.
