The Invitation

12:00 pm Cafe

"They late I told them to be here before, black people never on time." Imani said, as I look from my phone I see Lauyrn walking up to me.

" I am so sorry I had to drop Kason off to his grandmothers and I lost track of time." Lauyrn said, with a apologetic look on her face. I just huffed and smiled at her.

" I'm just happy you made it in time for our reservation." I said. "Why are we meeting up and why is so important ?" Lauyrn said. I gave her a playful smile and told her " You'll just have to wait and see until the rest of the girls get here." I said. Lauyrn laughed as we walked up to the hostess stand. " We have a reservation under the name Taylor." I said. The hostess looks for the name ," How many will be seated today." She said. " It's going to be four of us." I said.

" Okay follow me." We follow her to the back of the Cafe. Once we took our seats, A waitress comes up to our table," Can I start you both off with some drinks." I smiled at the waitress " Just some water for now thank you." I said. " Alright I'll back with your waters." She said.

As Lauyrn and I were talking we heard footsteps coming towards our table.

Summer quickly come to the table and take her seat without speaking.

"Uhh, Ms.Thing...Hello." I spoke up for the both of us.

"Hey." Summer said searching us then around cafe.

"What is the a place. They didn't serve y'all at." She questioned us as looked for waitress.

"This nice place, serve some good food and beverages. Me and Devin comes here every weekend after working out to have grab some food and go outside in their nice flower garden. " I explained to her.

"That's cute." She nonchalant said.

"She always late why can't she come on time." Lauyrn said. " Sade will come something probably came up." I said. Summer looks at me and scoffed " Why you always defending her ass." Summer said. Before I could say something back to her the hostess comes back with our waters. " Can I start you ladies off with appetizers or are you all ready to order ?"

" No we wai-..."
" Yea I like a Blushing mimosa and Salmon Eggs Benedict." Summer placed her order making me glare at quickly then turned back to the table.

"Mm, in that case if we already ordering I just have grilled cheese bacon crescent with extra eggs, please." Lauryn ordered.

As waitress wrote their orders down. I took on my stand on waiting for Sade to come to eat with her.

"For you ma—"

"I'm waiting still until my other friend come. Thank you." I said politely to the waitress as nodded and went her way on her for a minute.

"Girl, you crazy. If you think I'm going waiting all day for Sade ass to come." Summer said pulling her wallet out her purse and grabbing her card.

" I just don't want to be eating alon—"

"Imani, girl she grown. She a big girl, she can eat by herself." Summer said with little attitude.

Pushing the attitude by on her, I responded by with same energy.

"I know, she grown. I thinks it rude to be eating already. If everybody not here yet. It's a group brunch." I defended myself.

"Well, like I said.. she grown and she haven't made on time." Summer said.

I just sighed and glance at Lauryn as she sat there quietly sharing a neutral expression.

Feeling myself become little uncomfortable at the brunch. I was about to get up to take a breather but, I heard familiar female voice I was waiting on hearing.
