Worthless. Disgrace. Mistake. Stain on Noble Honor. Sin. All are words a man heard all his life, all he believed to be the truth about himself. A doctor once named a child that was born in a brothel because its mother did not want it, the boy was named Samuel. He was immediately sent to an orphanage with this record, a boy born from a prostitute was frowned upon, and any child like this was viewed as a disgusting creature born from sin, someone that wouldn't exist in a perfect world. When he was around ten years old, he was the primary target for the other kids, they made fun of him and isolated him partly following the way some of the caretakers treated him and sometimes just to make themselves feel better. His life at the orphanage was a rough one with no friends, upon his fourteenth birthday he started getting curious about his parents, but of course he had no idea that they didn't want anything to do with him and in this ignorance he gained a sense of hope, of excitement. As soon as he could, he would try and find his real parents, expecting a heartfelt reunion but the caretakers at the orphanage would never allow him to access any of the information at his young age. It was around this age he started rebelling, getting into fights with the other children that picked on him, this resulted in punishment. The caretakers would beat the children who caused any kind of trouble at the orphanage but because of what he was he would get it the worst, even when the other kid was the one to start the fight.

For the next four years, Samuel's life was mostly a daily beating and a barrage of insults. Upon his eighteenth birthday, the orphanage gladly kicked him onto the streets, but before they threw him out he stole the documents that told him the names of his parents: Marilyn Vivian and Kolstar Charmald. Samuel immediately recognized his father's name, for the Charmald Family was an influential, noble family in his hometown. This revelation was astounding to him, simply shocking, it filled him with much more excitement and hope for his reunion. He had never been exposed to how a noble treats their lesser, much less how they would react to an illegitimate child of theirs approaching them, staining their honor as a consequence of their past actions.

It had never occurred to Samuel why he was put up for adoption, nor did he ever think about it. The next day, he approached the street of the Charmald Family Manor, looking at the elegant mansion he couldn't help but have a sense of awe, a sense of pride that it was his father's house, his family's house. He approached the manor with caution, he didn't know what he should expect, he only knew what he did expect; his family to welcome him with open arms. Upon knocking on the finely carved doors, he waited for them to open with anxiety as it seemed like an eternity before they were opened, his knock answered. "Yes? What business do you have with the Charmald Family?" The Butler who answered the door asked Samuel with a judgemental look upon his face.

"I-I....I uhhh..." He was at a loss for words for a moment, but it was soon overcome by his desire to meet his father. "I-I'm here to see Kolstar, Kolstar Charmald. I-I'm...I'm his son."

"One moment." The Butler replied as he retreated back into the manor, closing the door, but not all the way, unknowingly leaving it slightly cracked open.

"Who is it, Mortimer?" Samuel saw a man about halfway down the stairs he could see through the crack of the door. He was a finely dressed man with a bearded face and smooth, combed brown hair, he must've been Kolstar.

"There's a boy outside claiming to be your son, Master Kolstar."

There was a pause, a silence as Kolstar stared in disbelief "Surely you jest, Mortimer, I only have one son, he must be lying."

Samuel couldn't just let the butler send him away, shut the door, separating him from his family he knew was his, the only source of love and support he could get. His father was right there, he couldn't let this opportunity slip by because to him it was his one shot at happiness. The thought of never being able to be with his father, a person who should love him and care for him, just as a mother should do the same, this thought made him spring into action "Wait! No, I'm your son!" Samuel pushed the door all the way open and stepped inside.
