Part 1

Alex's pov 

The bitterly cold wind sends shivers down my spine as I make my way up the icy path to my newest adventure. It has only been a month since I got accepted into my new job and I could not be more thrilled. My new boss seemed a little intimidating over the phone, but nothing could discourage me today because I was now mere steps away from the beautiful golden gates of the newly built Luna Zoo!!! Uh well it is still under construction but it's almost in its final stages.

I take a deep breath of the winter air before my shaky hand reaches for the hidden door off to the side of the enchanting entrance way, I exhale the last of my nerves and finally pull open the door. It opens to a room where animal paintings litter the walls, and a large reception desk sits of to the right corner of the room. A small smile appears on my face as I am greeted by a young lady with pale skin, jade eyes, and strawberry blond hair, she is very pretty.

"Hello, how may I help you?" she greets with a warm smile and a soft voice. I just stare at her; she seems so welcoming and sweet that it catches me off guard.

"um... hello"? she asks waving her hand in front of my face. My shoulders jolt upwards as I come back to reality.

"oh Sorry! I'm Alex, I'm here for my first day of work". I say with a small blush creeping across my face. She pauses for a second and looks down at her computer as if she were trying to remember something, suddenly her face changed to a big smile as she clapped her hands together.

"Ah yes Maze said something about getting a new handler today!" she cheered, her bubbly personality now showing. I smiled at her as she got up, she was waring a light blue jumper with white jeans and black snow boots.

"I'll show you to the staff dorms so you can put your stuff down then I will give you a tour and introduce you to the other staff, okay"? she explained as we walked down the hallway that was off to the side of the room that lead to the staff dormitories. As we walked down the hallway, she finally introduced herself,

"oh my gosh! I forgot to introduce myself!! I'm so sorry that it's so late but my names Tristan-Jazlyn Summers, but I prefer you call me TJ" she explained as we stopped in front of the first door.

"this is mazes room, if you ever need anything from them just ask me first so I can tell you where they are" TJ clarified.

"they? Is Maze nonbinary"? I asked hesitantly as I was not shore what the mindset was like here yet. At first, she just stared at me as if she were trying to word her answer in her head before she spoke.

"yes, they are nonbinary, I hope that's not a problem Alex" she said, slowly squinting her eyes as she spoke. My smile only got bigger as she finished her sentence and I think I almost cried.

"oh, no problem at all! Its just this is the first time I've been in a workspace that's so accepting" I say as we start to make our way further down the hallway, stopping at each door.

"This is Tyler's room, he's very funny and only works here part time for now, he is one of the presenters here at the zoo but once he's ready he wants to be an actor" she explains as the smile on her face grows, I guess there close.
