"the wrong things are always addicting."

for hoseok, waking up the next morning was a struggle. plagued with the thoughts of his current situation, he barely got a wink of sleep.

just as his life had turned around for the better these past couple of years, it felt like it was getting worse all over again. he already had a shitty childhood, but his years of high school and now college made up for it. however, there's a fucking gang wanting to kill him all of a sudden and he has no choice but to be holed up in a mafia boss's house for protection.

hoseok couldn't deny that yoongi was an interesting person. he tried to rack his brain for any memories of overhearing the man's name while living in jin's family house but he couldn't find anything. yoongi was truly a mystery he wanted to learn more about.

the first time he laid eyes on yoongi, hoseok didn't know the trouble that would come with it. he's a complicated person, forcing jimin to use his hacking abilities then turning around to call hoseok 'pretty' in the late hours of the night...

hoseok groans from the thought and turns to his side to see jimin raising an eyebrow at him, "penny for your thoughts?"

"sorry if i woke you up, minie.. i'm just confused is all."

"about yoongi?"

hoseok nods, not even surprised that his best friend knew about his internal conflict, "last night i went to go get some water after you fell asleep and he was there. we talked for a bit and he ended up calling me pretty.. i don't get how he can be so rude and intimidating one moment then turn around and say stuff like that the next.."

"just be careful, seok. i don't want you to end up like namjoon and i." jimin sighs, hoping he doesn't bump into him anytime soon.

"i'll be careful minie, i promise." hoseok chews on his bottom lip, letting himself get lost in his thoughts once again before a knock on the door brings him back to the present. "come in!"

jin opens up the door and hoseok immediately frowns, remembering his brother's yelling from last night.

"hey seok, can i talk to you?" jin briefly looks away from hoseok to glance at jimin, "alone, please?"

before hoseok could speak up, jimin takes the hint and gets up from the bed, "go ahead and talk with him seokie, i need to get going anyway. i'll text you later, okay?"

hoseok nods, watching jimin grab his stuff before heading out of the room.

"so?" hoseok starts out, fiddling with his thumbs underneath the covers of the bed.

"look, hobi.." jin starts off, coming to sit down next to his brother. "i'm really sorry for yelling at you like that yesterday.. i was just scared because i didn't want yoongi to get angry and try to hurt you- as if i'll let him do that anyways- but still.. i was just worried about you and reacted poorly. i'm glad you're okay though and i want you to know that i'm genuinely sorry."

"you've never yelled at me like that before.. it was pretty scary." hoseok looks down at his lap. he never did like yelling, it brought back way too many bad memories that he preferred to keep buried.

"i know, and i apologize for that.. but now that you're living here with me and the rest of the gang, you might see a different side of me that you never saw before.. you might hear me yell more often than not but it'll never be directed at you, not again at least."
