"feelings come with a cost."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

hoseok thought long and hard about what jungkook told him last week.

it made sense for yoongi to manipulate him, to twist up his emotions just to have sex with him. hoseok didn't consider himself innocent, he had been tainted at a young age, but he was still inexperienced when it came down to love and sex. he didn't make an effort to get into a relationship with anyone during high school and all he focused on in college was his passion for music. hoseok never truly knew what it's like to feel love in a sexual way, to have someone care for him in a sexual way, and he didn't expect to. yoongi just.. confuses him, much more than he'd like to admit. it was like hoseok saw different sides of him depending on the day and it made his head dizzy. did yoongi really just want him to become his new toy?

since last week, hoseok had been more quiet and distant from everyone, even to his brother and jimin. he'll come straight home after class and won't say a word to anyone, only having small talk with someone if they do try to have a conversation with him- though it never really lasts long. hoseok didn't even eat with the gang at breakfast or dinner anymore, opting to eat later when no one was in the kitchen at the time. there was so much on the boy's mind that he couldn't bring himself to engage with anyone.

he truly didn't know what to do, so still mulling over his thoughts, hoseok made his way to his favorite cafe. he felt the need to snag his favorite drink before heading back home and hiding away in his room. he dug his hands further into the pockets of yoongi's winter coat, the other ended up telling him to keep it and that it "looks better on you than it does me".

taking a shortcut through the alleyway he became so familiar with on his trips to the cafe, he suddenly hears footsteps behind him. hoseok stops to look but sees no one.

weird..

when he starts walking again, the footsteps grow quicker behind him. without looking back, hoseok starts running as fast as he can through the rest of the alleyway and towards the direction of the cafe.

turning the corner, hoseok sees a familiar head of jet black hair, one he knew all too well.

"yoongi!" hoseok shouts, making the man turn around just in time to catch the brunette barreling into him.

"hoseok?" yoongi catches him in his arms, stumbling back a bit from the force of his impact. "what's wrong? why were you running?"

hoseok turns around in a panic, afraid that the person chasing after him would appear and snatch him from yoongi's arms— but he saw no one. fuck, he was so close to being taken again.. tears start to cloud his vision as he turns back around to bury his face into yoongi's shoulder.

"hey, hey, it's okay princess.. just breathe." yoongi rubs his back soothingly, looking curiously in the direction hoseok was just staring at before taking him inside of the warm cafe. he sits down at a secluded table in the corner of the room before pulling the boy onto his lap.

hoseok breathes in yoongi's soothing cologne, taking a few moments to collect himself before pulling away, "there was.. there was someone c-chasing after me.. thought they were gonna kidnap me.."

yoongi frowns, so much for a fucking bodyguard. "i'll have jimin look into it.. see if he can track down who it was. are you okay now, hoseok?"

"yeah.. yes.. i'm fine.." hoseok nods, breathing out shakily as he looks up at yoongi, suddenly becoming lost in those dark brown eyes that had a determined fire lit inside of them.

"you know i'm here to protect you, hoseok. do you trust me?"

the uncertainty on hoseok's face must've gave him away because yoongi repeats his statement again.

"i need you to trust me, hoseok. i took you in to protect you. i'm not going to let anything happen to you no matter what, do you understand?"

hoseok finds himself nodding with a bit more reassurance.

"good. here, let me buy you your hot chocolate and then we can head home." yoongi smiles at him genuinely for the first time, which makes all of hoseok's worries crumble to the ground.

seriously, what was yoongi doing to him?

~~~
"jimin, i need you to look into something for me. namjoon's already there to pick you up."
"what is it?" jimin sighs, having just gotten home from his last lecture of the day.
"someone just tried to kidnap hoseok. i couldn't get in contact with the bodyguard which means he's most likely dead. i need you to hack into the cameras in the surrounding areas and see if you can find out who was chasing him."
jimin sucks in a breath, he knew he should've went to the cafe with hoseok today but the other insisted that he didn't, "shit.. is he okay?"
"yes, he's fine, just a bit shaken up is all. anyways, i expect to hear from you before midnight. don't let me down."
when yoongi hangs up the phone, jimin slips back on his shoes and heads outside again. the black audi he's been in a couple times before was parked right in front of his apartment.
the tension between them was still thick as jimin gets into the car without a word, not even sparing a glance at namjoon. that was, until the latter spoke up several minutes later.
"did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"
jimin blinked. he did not just say that.
"what?"
"i said, did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" namjoon smiles cheekily, seeing jimin looking at him in shock.
"is this your way of apologizing?" jimin shakes his head in disbelief at how fucking random the pick up line was. namjoon must be getting desperate..
"maybe, did it work?" namjoon smirks, pulling the car into the alleyway yoongi had mentioned hoseok ran in.
"maybe." jimin looks away with a shrug, not wanting the other to see his cheeks which were most likely flushing a bright pink by now.
namjoon rests his hand on top of jimin's thigh, making the latter jump slightly from the contact, "look, i didn't mean to hurt you, jimin.. i was thinking with the mentality that i had to grow up with. to use any resource i had to an advantage. i'm sorry i thought of you in that way."
"i know.. and sadly, i understand that namjoon. you did what you had to do.. and although i kinda hated you for it.. i can forgive you." jimin sighs, turning to face the blue haired man again. "don't get me wrong though, this doesn't mean i'll forget what you did."
"of course not, i wasn't expecting you to." namjoon shakes his head. "so.. we're good?"
"yeah.. we're good. just don't screw up again, namjoon, you still owe me a date." jimin huffs, reaching into his bookbag to pull out his laptop.
"oh don't worry angel, i didn't forget." namjoon winks before getting out of the car, leaving behind a flustered jimin to hack the cameras nearby.
humming to himself, namjoon makes his way further into the alleyway to investigate. at the other end after turning a corner, he sees a large trash bin. he opens it up to see the bodyguard yoongi hired to watch over hoseok, dead.
tsk. namjoon calls into the mansion with an irritated sigh, giving them details about the location so they can dispose of the body properly. after all, they didn't need other people sniffing around where their noses didn't belong.
after his phone call, namjoon walks back to the car and gets in, watching jimin turn his laptop to him with a smirk, revealing a closeup of the man that had been following after hoseok.
"bingo."
