It was such an interesting little thing, technically all it did was to dangle motionlessly from its web, but somehow Peter had taken a liking to the way light reflected off of its bubble-like tiny eyes.
His feet carried him close to the glass encapsulating it before he even realized.
"Hello there." He bent a little, coming eye level with the tiny creature.
It stared ahead- maybe at him, maybe beyond him, he couldn't tell. Its eyes were pupil-less and blown black. There was no way to tell where exactly it was looking.
How could it even focus on anything without pupils? For humans and any other mammal, light would enter from the pupils, and the most clear image they saw would be the epicenter of where light fell inside the eyeball.
Maybe this little guy could focus on everything within sight? That would be so cool!
Much to Peter's excitement, the small creature extended one thin leg up its web and started climbing up.
It didn't even slow as its leg touched to the glass above it, easily changing surface, and it started to move to the glass side Peter was crouching beside.
It completed its lopsided crawl, and stopped right where Peter had his face almost plastered to the glass cage.
Peter's eyes crinkled and he laughed. "You like me, bud?"
It opened wide and snapped shut its small little mandibles.
"Aww, what're you saying?"
A tiny bit of salvia that was too small for Peter to see rolled from its mandibles.
"Pete. We're moving on." MJ nudged him sneakily. Her arm brushing against his side in such an airy way, it could pass off as an accident.
A small grin grew upon his face. "I'm coming." Peter rose to his feet, and turned, only to see her already moving on with her arm hooked to Jess'.
"Right..." He murmured. His shoulders falling just a little.
As he slowly trailed after them, turned away from the glass panel as he was, he didn't see the spider pressing itself to the corner of its glass cage, the salvia sliding down its mandibles now a small, bubbling pool beneath it- didn't see the tiny puffs of smoke starting to rise, faster and faster as its acidic salvia ate through the chemical proof glass surface, and easily tunneled through the rest of the glass , or the spider hurriedly squeezing itself from the small hole it had just made, just as soon as the hole grew big enough.
.....
The spider furiously beat its legs, waltzed through the crowd, evading huge steps with remarkable grace, and made a straight beeline towards Peter.
....
The sudden feet that was rapidly closing on the ground it stood on made the spider jump with impossible grace, up, up and a few degrees forward. It landed onto the naked neck of the human.
The skin was right under its twitching mandibles, but the spider had only stopped to catch sight of Peter whom had gotten lost between the squashed crowd. It didn't stay a second longer on the naked flesh after spotting him. It leaped at its next human ladder.
.....
From the long man's shoulder, The spider reared its legs, and made a calculated jump.
Peter did not feel anything as the tiny spider landed onto his head. And the spider carefully, yet remarkably fastly in the way only too many legged bugs were, climbed down the shape of Peter's skull, it only slowed down as it came to the nape of his neck.
