"What the hell is he doing? He's never this late."Eddie, Richie, and Stan waited for Bill by the bike rack.
"Maybe he just forgot his launchpad again." Eddie defended his friend.
Truth is, Eddie and Bill had been close even before the band was formed. That means they've known each other for over five years. They weren't quite childhood best friends like Richie and Stan though. But Bill had stood up for Eddie against Bowers and always kept an extra inhaler in his jacket pocket in case anything happened to his. Eddie idolizes Bill as the leader and attempts to follow his image when in difficult situations.
Stan and Richie had the advantage of living really close to each other always going to the same school, having the same classes. They'd known each other since kindergarten, and were best friends ever since.
So, as you'd imagine, these kids were very close. As well as Bill's little brother, Georgie, who admired all of them in the cutest way.
"Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Bill would've told us, right Stan?"
"I think somethings up. We should check the janitors closet, that's usually where he goes to.. uh.."
Richie looked at Stan, "to what?"
"Rich, I thought for sure you were gonna just start saying all kinds of messed up shit." Eddie laughed nervously.
"Oh really? Like what, huh?"
"Wait guys shut up. Do you hear that?" Stan looked around.
There was a slight rustling in the bushes behind them.
Stan instinctively held his arm in front of the smaller ones, fully prepared to protect them against whatever was in the bush.
"Bill?" Eddie hid behind Stan.
Suddenly, the thing in the bushes stood up, brushing the leaves off its shoulders. "I don't know who that is."
It was a kid. He had a thicker built and flat dark blond hair. He stepped away from the bush. "Did you guys see Bowers and the others?"
Eddie looked at Stan, hoping he'd figure out how to handle the situation. He watched as he spoke to this new bush kid. "No, we haven't. Are you hiding from them?"
Richie laughed, "Woah, man! You must rock at hide and seek!"
"Shut up, Richie." Eddie whispered.
"Are you hiding from them" Stan repeated sternly.
"Well I was just- I- I wasn't um.. ye-yeah. Yeah I was."
Richie snickered and looked at Eddie, who wasn't even smiling.
"Well, you're safe now." Stan lowered his protective arm.
"I'm Ben. W-What's your name?"
"Stan. This is Eddie."
