"Fra-yah?"
"It's Freya," I rolled my eyes. "you get it wrong every time miss,"
"My apologies, I'll stick to calling you Frey, how about that?"
"Yeah that sounds good Miss Merrick."
She shot me an apologetic smile and moved on in the role.
"Mel?"
"Here,"
"Callum?"
"Here miss,"
I stared at my finger as it traced the outer lining of my pencil case that was covered in blobs of leaked highlighter ink. I grimaced and I felt that feeling again. As if I was being watched.
"Colton?"
Colton?
"Colton Blaine?"
"Yeah I'm here miss, just call me Cole,"
I whipped my head towards the voice, and I felt a slight flush in my cheeks. The rude black haired guy that I had bumped into a few hours ago at the councillors office was sitting at the corner table, his head resting on his propped-up hand, his eyes still so black they looked as if they showed no emotion. His eyes flickered to me.
"The new guy's been staring at you for the last 10 minutes," Athena gushed, tapping my shoulder frantically. I frowned and quickly turned my attention back to the front of the class, embarrassed.
"He's so hot," Mel blushed.
"Mel! Stop staring," Athena whispered, "He's already got his eyes on Frey,"
Mel swivelled her head back at me, her green eyes almost glaring with jealousy.
I laughed. "You can have him Mel it's fine, he's an asshole anyways,"
"Wait why? What'd he do?" Mel gasped, her eyes wide with excitement at the chance of some gossip.
"He bumped into me the other day at- in one of the halls, and he helped me up and told me his name but when I told him mine he just replied with 'okay,' and walked off,"
"Girlie, no, that's so rude of him," Athena frowned, twisting her brunette hair on her fingers.
"Who cares? He's hot," Mel grinned.
Athena shoved her lightly. "You're a bitch,"
Mel rolled her eyes. "Sorry, can't help it," she giggled.
"Hey you're making the guys on this table feel insecure hun," Royce joked.
"Shut up, as if you don't do this every day," Mel teased eyeing him with the look that she always got when she was fawning over guys. Which was all the time. While Athena was always too busy keeping Mel in check, I was the one that was then getting bombarded with all the guys Mel wanted. Not to brag.
"Students! Could you please not interrupt the whole class while I'm marking the attendance?" Miss Merrick sighed as she placed the roll down on her desk.
"Sorry miss," Royce smiled, looking mischievously at the teacher with his drop-dead gorgeous face.
"You're only sorry that you got caught Royce," The teacher sighed, her eyes sunken in her sockets empty and tired, screaming for an ounce of sleep. I'd hate to be a teacher, having to teach a bunch of kids that only listened depending on their mood. I mean, at least the nerdy kids payed attention.
"So class, today we will be starting on the group assessed human body assessment-"
I heard a few groans from my table and pouted my lips in disappointment as I tried to drown out the teachers words. I hated assessments. I hated the stress, the high expectations, the emotional roller coaster.
I'd only picked human anatomy because I had assumed you would just label some bones and point out some scientific names for some of them.
"Year 11! I do not want to hear all these complaints, you are doing this no matter what so you might as well have a positive attitude!" Ms Merrick huffed. "However, I am letting youse work in partners of your own choice."
"Royce," Mel whispered. "Partners?"
"F-Freya, weren't we gonna do this one together?" Royce asked, his eyes almost begging for me to get him out of this situation with Mel. She had a perfect personality, but I guess she could be overly clingy sometimes.
