The sky was filled with fog. He could barely see the egg he carried in his right paw. The rain was falling hard enough that tide was scared the rain would crack its shell. His arm ached. He needed to find a place to rest. As he drag his feet across the grass, he noticed a towering shape. His eyes lit up. Tide grabbed his egg with his tail and dashed towards the mountain. Tide stumbled his way to a cave carved into the side. As tide walked into the cave, he noticed it felt warm. It was dimly lit, and someone had been there before. Or, were there. Tide gently placed the egg down. He closed his eyes and shivered. He almost fell asleep. His calmness was interrupted by a voice. "Hey! Who do you think you are?!" The voice was deep and stern, but there was a tinge of worry and sorrow in it. Tide looked at the light, a shadow of a large wolf-like Pokémon emerged. It was a mightyena. Her neck was decorated with a diamond necklace. Her fur was long and matted, with a small, frizzy braid on the right side of her head. "I'm tide. And you are?" Asked tide. "Why should I tell you. You're the one who intruded here..." hissed the mightyena. "I've been traveling for days now. I need a place to stay." Tide explained. "Well that's on you. You're the one who left." Scoffed the mightyena. "You don't understand. My eggs gonna hatch soon. They want them dead. I left so they could be safe." Tide stroked his egg sadly. "Your egg?" The mightyena's red eyes lit up with hope. "I don't even think I want it anymore. It's caused me so much trouble." Hissed tide. "I could take care of them." The mightyena's eyes filled with tears. "What's wrong?" Tide asked. "I lost two of my eggs." She sighed. "I don't know. I just met you. How do I know you'll take care of them?" Asked tide. "Because if you let me take care of them, I'll let you stay in my cave as long as you need." She held out her paw to make the deal. Tide hesitated. If he lost the egg, he would lose the last piece of its mother. "I don't know. They killed its mother. She was an absol named enigma." Tide sighed. "Enigma?! I remember her. She was a great fighter and traveller. I'm echo. I don't know if she's mentioned me." The mightyena said. "I-I guess you can take my egg. Write me a letter when they hatch." Tide tearfully looked at the egg.
Wished it goodbye, and slept.
