THE SIGH that escaped Dumbledore’s lips was full of worry and stress, as if something was bothering him like an itch you could not reach behind your back.
The grand old Wizard checked the date once more, he had been checking over and over again, just like you would when you were hungry and you would re-open the fridge, hoping that more food would magically appear.
As another sigh was made, Dumbledore couldn't escape this fact, the fact that it was October thirteenth, the day he had to give [Y.Name] [L.Name] his Hogwarts letter.
Dumbledore pondered the pros of doing this over and over again, trying to convince himself that giving [Y.Name] his acceptance letter was a good idea.
But deep down, he knew it was most likely a grand mistake.
Dumbledore knew that he wasn't allowed to give [Y.Name] his letter, as ordered by Fudge, the Minister of Magic.
Dumbledore knew why Fudge didn't want [Y.Name] to learn about the Wizarding World, in fact, Dumbledore was almost agreeing with Fudge.
But his sense of judgment and believement of giving everyone a chance clouded his vision like thick fog against his logic.
Dumbledore furrowed his brows and massaged his forehead, the act of thinking too much giving the old Wizard a migraine.
Tap Tap Tap
The chorus of light taps at the door caused for Dumbledore to hurriedly hide [Y.Name] [L.Name]'s acceptance letter to Hogwarts in a drawer, keeping it hidden from whoever was at the door.
Clearing his voice, Dumbledore spoke, "Come in."
The entrance to Dumbledore’s office opened, and a man with greasy black hair and robes came in - Severus Snape.
"Severus," Dumbledore chuckled, "you haven't dropped by to see this old tard in a while."
"Have you sent it, Headmaster," Snape immediately asked, cutting to the chase.
The Headmaster of Hogwarts played dumb, "Sent what?"
Snape stood unamused, "The acceptance letter for Mr.[L.Name]."
Dumbledore sighed, "No, I haven't..."
Snape crossed his arms, "Then, what are you waiting for?"
Dumbledore looked at Snape quizzically, "You do realize the amount of danger and rule breaking that we'll be doing if we send this small letter?"
The Potions teacher scoffed, "When were you so concerned for the rules?"
The Headmaster stayed silent for a bit, then spoke, "Right... I'll set off to the orphanage at once..."
"Good," Snape said, before turning around and leaving with his charcoal black robes flowing behind him.
Dumbledore suck in some air, making his final decision.
He would give [Y.Name] [L.Name] his Hogwarts letter - whether for the better, or the worse.
It was no wonder people sometimes called Dumbledore an old wanker, as he was about to give a child that was completely dangerous to the Wizarding World a full magical education that he could use to destroy it - just like his Grandfather set out to do.
Only time could tell, though, if [Y.Name] [L.Name] was truly going to be "good" or "bad" for the Wizarding World.
But one thing was for sure, Albus Dumbledore was MAD AS A HATTER.
