You convinced Xiao to see the lanterns and he, reluctantly, agreed to go if it made you happy.

(Sorry if he's very OOC in this. Kinda wanted to give the feel that he's extremely at ease around you ;-;)

🌸Fluff Saga: Episode 4

I grabbed his gloved hand and pulled, giggling as the brunette struggled to keep upright. I smiled at Xiao, a light dust of blush tinting my cheeks a faint pink.

The evening sun beamed down on us as I lead him down the winding path to the city of Liyue Harbor, the rays from the sun painting the surroundings a beautiful shade of maroon and gold.

I stopped, holding the small yaksha's hand in my own, our fingers intertwined with each other. I stared at the setting sun and the beautiful scenery in front of me.

The trees were casting their elongated shadows on the grass and a small collection of Dendro slimes peacefully basked in the warmth of the setting sun.

A group of nearby hilichurls danced as the light grew more distant and faint, their leading Mitachurl sitting calmly near the tent, lazily watching the dance.

Tens of hundreds of birds stood near the banks of the small lakes, the water gleaming and reflecting light in the final fleeting moments of the evening.

The darkening red sky filled with birds flying, their young cries becoming a lullaby to any passing traveler who happened to see this scenery.

"(Y/N)?" A raspy voice pierced through my thoughts, bringing me back to reality. I looked to my right and found that the source of the sound came from Xiao. Smiling softly, I squeezed his hand.

"C'mon, we don't wanna be late, haha. A wise man once said 'If we stand here any longer, we'll grow mushrooms'" I chuckled, quoting the Knights of Favonius' Calvery Captain.

I led the way towards the small clearing outside of the city of Liyue and neared one of the mountain's side. I glanced back at Xiao, who gave me a small quizzed look.

Feeling for a hold on the mountain, I lifted myself up and started climbing. I turned my head around to look for the yaksha, but I couldn't see him.

I continued climbing upwards. Either he was directly below me, or he somehow got up there way before me. Probably the latter though.

Finally reaching the top of the mountain, I hoisted myself up and rolled away from the cliff, the stars spread out across the night sky like a bright twinkling blanket.

I stood up slowly and stretched. It was almost time for the release of the Xiao lanterns.

I felt a pair of arms grab me by my waist from behind and lift me into the air, causing me to squeal and giggle.

"Xiao, put me down!" I squealed, grabbing at his arms, feeling just how strong he truly was. I felt safe in his embrace.

Setting me down slowly, he rested his head on my shoulder, his eyes closed and a peaceful expression graced his facial features. He smiled gently as he pulled me in closer, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.

I glanced up at the night sky, the moon glancing down at us. The stars twinkling brightly, and the wind dancing past us in a gentle breeze.

The first few lanterns from Liyue rose up from amongst the tall buldings within the city, the bright glow of the lanterns giving them the appearance of multiple small yellow suns flying up into the eternal void of space.

"Xiao, look, " I whispered as more and more lanterns filled the air. The sight was truly magnificent.

Xiao looked up and released me from his hold, walking towards the edge of the cliff, his mouth slightly agape at the surplus amount of lanterns at this Liyue celebration.

"It's almost like they've doubled..." he said, his voice quiet as he looked up at the lantern filled sky.

I walked up behind him, holding two xiao lanterns in my hands and held one out for him.

"What's a lantern rite without releasing our own lanterns?" I giggled as he took one of the lanterns from me.

I gave my lantern a small push, the air trapped within keeping the lantern afloat as it drifted higher up into the sky. I smiled softly, thinking of my wish as it floated above us.

Xiao released his lantern, his mouth presses into a thin line and his eyes full of determination, as if his wish was something he strived to achieve.

I hugged him, resting my head on his chest as our lanterns joined the rest in the sea of glowing orange. His arms snaked back around my waist as he held me close to him. I felt myself blush.

I glanced up at him, his hard, amber eyes softened as he gazed at the lanterns flying by and a soft smile danced upon his lips.

"(Y/N)..." he whispered softly. I hummed, enjoying how beautiful he was when he was truly at peace.

He held out his hand as a xiao lantern came closer to him and inspected the floating ball of orange light.

"Let's attend the next lantern rite together!" he smiled, gently pushing the lantern back to join the others.
