The first chapter where vampire Barry (this story is told in first person) comes across the injured werewolf alpha known as Oliver Queen and saves his life.
Barry's POV (point of view)
Trees. So many trees. I don't know how long I had been running through the forest, but it must've been for a few hours at least. I just had to get away from the evil vampire Hunter, who turned me two years ago.
The sun had still been up when I decided to escape, I knew it would hurt to go out during the daylight, but at least it would be better than to remain as Hunter's personal slave. As soon as I was in the woods the trees thankfully blocked most of the sun. But I've also been practicing a bit for the past two years to tolerate a bit of sunlight if I use my vampire speed.
By the time I reached an unfamiliar glade in the forest it was already dark. But thanks to the vampire vision I could still make out a path. Then I heard a gunshot and caught the smell of werewolf blood close by. I closed my eyes and stopped breathing for a moment. Technically I didn't have to breathe anymore since I was dead. And the stench of werewolf blood was too much.
Only a few months ago I had managed to overcome the addiction after Hunter had forced me to pray on any innocent creatures we found ever since I was turned. Apparently werewolf blood is highly addictive to vampires.
The painful growl from the werewolf nearby caused me to run over there to see what was going on. My eyes darted to the body of a half naked werewolf. A very known werewolf. It was the alpha and prince known as Oliver Queen. His mother Moira is the current ruler of the werewolves in the Starling kingdom. I had no idea I crossed into werewolf territory.
"Vampire. Get away from me." Oliver groaned and tried to move, but he only lost more blood as he tried to roll away from me. It looked like he'd been shot with a silver bullet in his shoulder.
"I'm Barry Allen and I promise I'm not going to hurt you. I can help you." I spoke quietly, while still not trying to breathe in the scent of the blood when I kneeled on the ground next to the injured wolf.
"Don't come any closer. Stay the hell away from me." the werewolf snapped again while he shoot me an icy blue wolf stare. But I could see the fear behind those eyes and how he seemed to slip away in pain.
"Would you rather die than let a vampire heal you?" I asked the stubborn prince and only got a scoff in return. "I don't trust vampires." he coughed because the more blood he lost, the weaker he got.
"Get the hell away from him." Another werewolf appeared among the trees and he was pointing a crossbow with a wooden stake at me. I slowly got up while holding my hands in the air.
"I- I wasn't going to hurt him. I swear." I stuttered. "I'm not like other vampires, my name is Barry Allen." I continued while I was slowly lowering my hands in the air as I kept explaining myself in hopes of the angry werewolf sparing my life. "I just escaped the horrible vampire who turned me. Hunter Solomon."
The name caused both werewolves to look at me. The icy blue eyes of the alpha and the golden ones of the tall, black man who was still pointing a crossbow at me. "And I didn't mean to enter werewolf territory I just had to get away from him. And I'll heal your alpha if you let me stay here until I've figured out where to go." I promised.
"John. Lower that." A blonde human girl yelled as she suddenly emerged from the trees out of breath, she must've been right behind the other werewolf.
"What? Felicity. That's a vampire. He's our enemy." the buff werewolf responded to the human and by the sound of it she had heard my desperate attempt at explaining myself.
"I know. But I just heard him saying that he would heal Oliver." The blonde girl said before she turned her gaze from the werewolf to look at me with begging blue eyes. "Please save our friend." she begged and I took a step closer towards the werewolf prince again.
"Not here." The other werewolf, John, said. Then he walked over to his injured friend and carefully helped him onto his feet.
"I'm fine." Oliver tried to assure him. But aside from his six pack and good looking body, he didn't look fine with the painful wound on his muscular shoulder. His face was pale from losing too much blood.
"No, actually you've lost a whole lot of blood and I'm pretty sure you'll fall unconscious any second now." I said and gained an ice cold glare from the two werewolves again. "What? My parents used to be doctors. And then they were both killed when I was eleven." I explained as if it wasn't still paining me today. It suddenly made me think of my parents and old life for the first time in a while. I had been trying not to think of my living friends that much, because they all think I'm dead. Even Iris. The love of my life. She's probably moved on by now. I've never dared to check in on her, and Hunter of course would never let me. He took my body so they could never even have a funeral for me.
During the walk through the woods the memories quickly flew by. Until I noticed that I was right and the alpha fell unconscious after a few minutes of walking. I helped John carry him back to what must be their secret layer. An underground basement or cellar of some kind, in the middle of the woods. It actually looked more like an abandoned old tomb, and it was filled with various weapons that could be used to catch all sort of creatures. A brown wooden desk with a chair, some sort of made up gym equipment and a med-bay.
John stepped away from his friend after he had placed him down on the med-bay and then I quickly got to work to disinfect the shoulder wound with the help of a first-aid-kit that Felicity gave me so that I could take out the bullet. Which caused the unconscious alpha to wake up again and groan out loud in pain.
"I'm sorry." I said with a frown because I didn't want to hurt him.
"Are you?" the werewolf snapped and I nodded before I bit my own wrist.
"Here. Drink. It will heal you much quicker." I said but Oliver was shaking his head. "No. I WILL NEVER ever drink vampire blood." he growled with a clenched jaw.
"Don't you think your wife, you know, your pretty Laurel would have a lot of questions if you came home with another stitched up bullet wound?" Felicity asked and caused the stubborn prince to sigh out loud.
"You know I keep her out of my dangerous double life to keep her safe..." Oliver said and gained a knowing look from his blonde human friend who must serve as some sort of helper to the werewolves.
"So you wouldn't want her to find out like this? That you almost died because of your recklessness. Again." Felicity added and after another deep sigh the werewolf gave in and looked up at me.
"I'm only doing this because I don't want my wife to find out that I'm hunting down criminals next to being a prince. Because I doubt my mother and the other members of the royal council would appreciate my night job." Oliver explained and I nodded because I still tried to not breathe in too much of his scent.
Then he grabbed my arm with a firm hand before he sank his werewolf fangs into my wrist. His blue wolf eyes glowed as he was staring right into my red eyes. I could almost see the effect my vampire blood had on him. What if it was as addictive as his blood would be to me? I didn't want to think about that, but I do remember that vampire blood could give humans hallucinations and weird dreams. I don't know if that's the same for werewolves because I haven't exactly spent enough time with our enemies to know much about them. But I quickly shook away those thoughts as I noticed that the shoulder wound on Oliver's shoulder started to heal and not just that scar faded, other ones that covered the alphas muscular body started to disappear as well.
"Oliver, man, you should probably stop now." John said with a worried tone. But the werewolf alpha just ignored him and instead he grabbed my arm with two hands and kept drinking until I had to tear it back out of fear that the blood would have weird effects on him.
"I thought I was the blood sucker here." I attempted a joke to light the mood. But no one was amused. John gave me an angry glare and my smile quickly faded.
"How do you feel?" Felicity asked carefully and placed a hand on her handsome friend's other arm.
"I feel like... I just had a really weird drink spiced with a drug or something." the prince chuckled. Wait did he chuckle? I felt confused when he got off the med-bay and walked over to a mirror that was oddly placed in the dark dungeon. The prince seemed to check if his wounds had healed and it had. Aside from some claw marks that proved he was a werewolf and his royal birthmark shaped as a moon with a crown on it on his chest right above his heart, he didn't have a single flaw. God! Stop it Barry, this is not a person you should feel attracted too. I tried to slap some sense into myself.
"That's so weird." Oliver murmured once he was done examining his non-existing wounds and scars, before he picked up a dark stylish shirt from a bag and tossed it on without buttoning it. Oh Damn, I'm definitely attracted to him.
"No bloodlust or other creepy side effects?" I asked worriedly once I was done thinking about his good-looks and the werewolf turned around to face all three of us again, but he only looked right at me. It was almost intimidating, the way he stared with those icy blue wolf eyes.
"I don't know yet, but what sort of side effects are there?" The prince asked and I broke eye contact with him as if to explain to his friends instead.
"Humans can get weird dreams or hallucinations when they drink vampire blood, but I'm not sure if it's the same for werewolves though." I explained without looking into the icy blue eyes that were still busy staring at me. Can he just stop staring at me like that? Or is it a side effect to my blood in his system already? I thought but his voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Hallucinations. Lovely." Oliver responded sarcastically with a non-amused chuckle. "What kind of hallucinations?" he added and if vampires could blush I knew I would've been blushing right now.
"Um..." I stuttered which made Felicity giggle because she was the first to follow what made me so nervous.
"What's funny?" John asked, not really following the way the blonde did.
"I think what Barry mean is that vampire blood could give Oliver ... well sexual thoughts or dreams." The blonde girl filled in and her cheeks turned red as she avoided looking at the handsome prince.
"Well I can assure you that with or without vampire blood in my system that will not happen. No chance, bloodsucker." Oliver's insult caused me to glance at him again. I don't think that's how it works, but I didn't say that because it would probably jeopardize my chances of staying in his kingdom and I still had no idea where to go.
Then a phone rang and John picked it up. "Hi, Laurel. Yeah, we're on our way back... we just stopped for a while when William and my kids fell asleep." I could make out a woman's voice on the other line because of my vampire hearing.
{"Good. I was almost starting to become worried. But it's been a while since he's had time for father-son bonding time with our William."}
Of course he must have a son too. That's just one more reason why I shouldn't feel attracted to him. But as soon as the other werewolf hung up the phone I tossed a glance at Oliver and noticed that he was still looking at me.
"How old is your son?" I asked in hopes of getting to know the prince a bit better and also to make him stop staring at me like that.
"He's turning eight this year. If I'm being honest we weren't sure we were ready to take care of a baby at the time when it happened. Because I had just been given more responsibilities as a crown prince and Laurel was about to become a lawyer, but William turned out to be our greatest gift." The way the werewolf alpha spoke so fondly and openly caused me to smile softly at him and then I felt a tad guilty. Why do I still have all these stupid emotions when I'm supposed to be dead? Why does the thought of seeing him happy with his son make me smile?
"Well, story time is over. You need to go home." John said and started pushing Oliver towards the stairs so he could leave the secret layer.
"Wait. The vampire is coming with me. I need to keep an eye on him." The werewolf alpha talked about me as if I wasn't even there before he tossed another glance at me. "You might've saved my life, but I still don't trust you." he added while he looked me up and down as if to check if I was going to turn on him.
"Then I look forward to earning that trust, your majesty Queen." I said and bowed slightly before I reached out my hand in a friendly gesture. But he looked at me as if I was insane and ignored my hand.
"There's no need for you to do that silly bow thing unless the other royals are present. I don't care much for those strict rules. You can just call me Oliver or Ollie." He said with a soft smile at me this time while he reached out his hand towards me.
A quiet gasp escaped Felicity's throat behind them followed by a giggle. "You've never even asked us to call you by your family nickname." she pointed out and I tossed her a look. Was the alpha already affected by my blood? I thought as I glanced at him again and noticed him blushing. Wait... blushing? Yeah Oliver Queen was blushing.
"Haven't I?" Oliver wondered and it sounded as if he tried to play dumb which made John scoff.
"No, I can't recall I've ever heard anyone besides your sister, your wife, your wife's sister Sara and your childhood best friend, Tommy, call you that." John listed the people in Oliver's life who got to call him by his nickname. And then the black werewolf added. "And what happened to not trusting him?" which caused Oliver to exhale loudly.
"I don't. Never mind let's just go home now." the werewolf headed out from the underground basement and headed back into the woods followed by the rest of us.
"But first this. Because it would look really suspicious if a vampire just waltzed into the castle." Oliver said and nodded to the other werewolf to hand him a pair of handcuffs. I gulped. Wooden cuffs probably soaked in vervain which was poisonous to vampires.
"If you want to earn my trust, I will call the shots and you need to do as I say." the werewolf alpha said and I nodded and reached out my wrists and prepared for the sting of pain and just as I thought, it did hurt. The wooden cuffs burned my skin, but I didn't make a sound, I held the pain inside. Hunter had done way worse things to me anyway.
"Good vampire." Oliver said with a smile as if I was his pet. "You might be a different one after all." he added. And my lips twitched into a smile too, despite the sting of pain from the vervain cuffs.
"And you don't stink as much as I thought werewolves did." My voice was way more teasingly than I intended for when I said that but he continued to smile back at me and for a few seconds longer than necessary I held the gorgeous werewolf's blue gaze.
Until John cleared his throat. "Let's go." he said and we left the woods.
