You stared at him. Your stomach ached and you couldn't help but cry. Was he him?

"Steve?" You asked slowly. You existed in one universe, were you finally going to be in yours?

Steve tensed. His whole body froze in the middle of the crowd surrounding him. He looked scared, his eyes blown wide, almost like if he closed them you would slip away.

"You're there right?" You asked. Watching as tears slipped down his face.

"I am. Are you, though?" you nodded, the breath in your lungs completely disappearing as he pulled you close with a hug. You stood there, your arms falling to your sides as he held you tightly. You stared at the sky, this couldn't be him. This couldn't be your Steve. he was tall, and toned. He was strong. He was Captain America. He was...

Your target.

You couldn't stop it now. You were fully crying. Harsh sobs tore through your throat as you held onto him. You could've killed him. You knew you could've. Those lips. You should've known that it was Steve you were hunting. Steve was Captain America. Captain Rogers.

"You... You're alive." He said.

"I'm alive. I'm so sorry. I am so sorry. I couldn't control it. I couldn't stop what they did to me. They threatened to take the image of you away if I resisted. I couldn't handle forgetting you."

"Shhh, Shhhh, You're here for now. You're with me." You nodded, despite the deep feeling that soon you wouldn't be.  There was still the never-ending fear that Hydra would just rope you right back into their hands. Just for them to manipulate and use. Just like they had always done when everything was going right. Just like they had when you were back in the 1940s.

"Tea?" He asked. "Wrap me up over tea. I need to know what happened to you."

"I just woke up there. In a different universe, in a different time. It was so much later than it was for me before." You took a sip of tea. Steve sat across from you, slightly leaning over the table as he listened. "Apparently that was the universe I was born in. They found me and took me in and used me as a lab rat. They made me into this toy. Something for them to send into battle so that they could coward away and use me instead." You clenched your jaw.

"I spent years training underneath the winter soldier. They made me into a monster." You thought of Bucky and how broken he was. "Soon enough, I had another target. And it was.... I think it was you. Captain America."

Steve's jaw tightened. "That's me."

"Me and B- The Winter Soldier were sent to kill you. I blacked out and woke up here. Back in the original universe, I left." You took a deep shaky breath. "How did it happen for you? Me going missing and you becoming Captain America?"

"When you went missing, me and Buck never gave up. We kept looking for so long. You missing made me want to join the war more than ever. So I did. I tried over and over and soon enough they used me as a voluntary lab rat. I became this. I fought the war and then I had to do something that caused me to end up here. When I showed up here, I looked around and finally realized there was no hope in finding you anymore, then I turn around and-" He smiled with glossy eyes. "You're there."

"I'm here." You smiled back a crooked smile. "Nice story." You sniffed, wiping your eyes. "Maybe next time I wont have to hear the abridged version."

"Soon, But lets try to not waste time with our sob stories, eh? We're back together. Everyone, but-"

"James." You said standing from the table.

"Yeah, obviously."

"No no, I left James."

"Y/N, what are you getting at?"

"In the other universe, Steve, Bucky is the winter soldier."

"What?" He asked.

"I was planning on going back. To save him, I had stop Sheild. Here and there. You're alive, Steve, You can help me. We can do this sooner than I was supposed to."

"Y/N, do you have a death wish?"

"Bucky is on the line, Steve! Do you really want to argue if this is logical? We have to help him! In that universe and in this one!" He bit his lip. He knew you were right.

"How do you know that he is alive in this universe?" He asked, looking up at you.

"How did he die?" You asked blatantly.

A shadow crossed his face, "He fell off the train."

"Believe me. He's alive." You said. "We have to do this. We have to help him, he's so broken."

"Okay." He stood up. "Suit up."

We are going to pretend that I haven't been writing this book for nearly two years and that I haven't abandoned it and am posting consistently. okay.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of updates. I highly doubt anyone is reading this anymore but the guilt is getting to me and I should probably finish this book.

I was listening to 'Maybe I Was Boring' album by Wilbur Soot. He gives me motivation, love him. >//w//<
