Chapter 1: The Sign

[News in Television]
   There has been a new victim of "Kyoto Red Murder". A 19 years old college student was found dead in the college's library store room with a red notes beside him. Forensic team stated that he has been stabbed at least 20 times on his chest and his eyeballs are missing. He is the 5th victim of this horrible murder. Once again, we advised for parents to not let their kid alone outside and don't stay out late at night.....

[At Kyoto Police Department]

Yamada: Inspector Saito-san, do you really need to stay up late again tonight?

Inspector: Of course, Yamada. I need to analyse this data for our investigation.

Yamada: But inspector, you already do this "analysis" for 3 nights straight, you need some rest.

Inspector: How can I rest when there's a serial killer walking freely out there? We need to stop this "Kyoto Red Murder".

Yamada: But, you need to considered your health as well. I'm not trying to be rude, but you're already in your late 40. If you're sick, how can you catch the murderer?

Inspector: I understand your concern about me, but the thought of the killer still wondering out there. Who knew which innocent citizen will be their next victim.

Yamada: It's pretty weird. All the victim doesn't have any connection at all. I mean, the last victim is an older salesman and now a college student?

Inspector: The murder are so random, some people even said that this might be a crazy person on a "killing spree". But the murder being so well organized, even K9 units can't find the trace of the killer. They must be clever person, but why he's doing this random kill?

Yamada: Most importantly, how do they got an access into places that are closed? Like this case, how do they enter the Library Storage? Even librarian seldom going down there.

Inspector: I'm afraid to say this, but if we failed to solve it this year, the case might be closed as "unsolved case" and even worse, I will be fired...

Yamada: No! I won't let that happen!

Inspector: Why are you so determined to keep my position? It's not like you're getting fired along the way.

Yamada: Saito-san, you are the nicest person in this department. I won't let a person that has been teaching and guide to get fired just because of unsolved case! You are like my fathter, and I won't disappoint him!

Inspector: Huh, looks like I have an "unofficial son" here. Alright, I will rest for tonight. My back kinda hurt now. Come on, Yamada. I will give you a ride since your house is not so far from mine.

Yamada: Yes, Inspector.

   As they leaves the Police Department, a pair of red eyes observing them from a few blocks away. Inspector Saito noticed it, but just keep quite and continue driving. After sending his assistant home, he arrived at his home safely. Checking over his teen daughter if she's already asleep. As expected, she's still awake, studying as always. He greed his daughter and ask if she's already ate, is she ate and stuff. His daughter reply that she already bought a rice plate from nearby convenient store and there's one more plate left, for her dad.

   Before going to sleep, his mind filled with concern about his daughter. But then he keep reminding himself that everything will be fine and sleep.
