   INTRODUCTION

She gripped tightly on the gun in her hand as she silently walked through the dark warehouse. It was quiet and the smell was horrible. The wind that was blowing outside was making the wooden warehouse construction to creak. As she walked further in she could see a light coming from the crack of an old rusted metal door that was barely hanging on its hinges. She looked around her surroundings - no one was there so she slowly walked towards the door pushing it open, raising the gun up. Her heart broke when she saw Jeremy, tied to a metal chair in the middle of the room. An old dusty light bulb was hanging above his head, giving a good view of his bloody, beaten up face.

"Jeremy” she choked out and ran towards him, not checking if anyone else was into the room.  "Oh Jeremy" She cried as she took his head in her hands and lifted it up, He was barely breathing.

"Jeremy wake up” she whispered quietly to him. He opened his eyes and weakly looked up at her, before coughing loudly.

“I love you" Those three words barley left his mouth. "I love you too" She told him through tears as she brushed her thumb across his blood stained cheek.

"Let’s get out of here" She whispered to him before standing up to untie his hands but froze when she felt something cold press against the back of her head.

“Well well well, what do we have here? Your girlfriend came to rescue you.”

The man wrapped his arms around Emma's waist, pulling her into his chest and moved the gun in his hands so it was pressed under her jaw. Emma knew that voice, she knew it all too well. Emma swallowed hard as the cold metal touched her skin.

"Drop the gun" He demanded her, whispering in her ear. Emma did as she was told and dropped the gun on the ground.

"Good girl" He said kicking the gun to the side.

“Why are you doing this Tom?” She asked him.

“Oh Emma, because your sweet little boyfriend took something from me” He told her. She could feel his hot breath against her ear.

“Let her go” Jeremy choked out, glaring at Tom.

“I don’t think I will” He let out a chuckle that sent cold shivers down Emma’s spine.

“I think I’m going to make you watch as I make her suffer.” He said reaching out in his pocket with his free hand and taking out a pocket knife.

“This is between me and you Tom; it has nothing to do with her.” Jeremy growled at him.

“Oh but she does” He said trailing the blade if the knife up Emma’s arm and up her neck, making Emma hiss out in pain as the blade cut her skin slightly, making blood drip down her arm and neck.

“You see Emma, Jeremy here took someone important from me. He killed someone who l loved with my heart and soul. And he’s going to pay for it with his life” He growled before pointing the gun at Jeremy, who was sitting there helplessly, glaring at the man. Emma knew exactly who Tom was talking about. He was talking about Elise who Tom had been in love with for the longest time though she had not known about his love. Elise had committed suicide few months ago but she didn’t know what Jeremy had to do with it.

“I don’t understand”

“You see Emma, He’s the reason she’s dead, HE is the reason she took her life” He screamed angrily.

“You’re lying…” Emma didn’t want to believe a word Tom was saying. There was no way Jeremy was the reason of Elise’s death.

“HE TOOK HER FROM ME, HE USED HER HE MADE HER FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM AND THEN HE DESTROYED HER” He screamed angrily.

“TELL HER JEREMY; TELL HER HOW YOU USED ELISE WHILE YOU STILL WERE WITH EMMA. TELL HER THE TRUTH!” Emma looked at Jeremy, pleading with her eyes for him to tell her that it wasn’t true, that everything Tom had said was lies. But all she could see in Jeremy’s eyes were guilt and sadness.

Tears welled up in Emma’s, she didn’t want to believe it but his face gave it all away.

“She was never yours” Jeremy said turning his eyes on Tom, a smirk making his way onto his lips.

“That bitch was only good for one thing anyways; she was a good piece of ass.” Jeremy smirked. With each word that left Jeremy’s mouth Tom only got angrier, his breathing turning heavier.

“Shut up” Tom growled through his teeth.

“But I guess you will never get to find out about it yourself”

“SHUT UP!” Tom screamed, raising his gun up and pointing it at Jeremy, who just sat in the chair with an evil smirk. Emma knew what he was doing. Tom didn’t have strong nerves and can get pissed easily and the more Jeremy said the more Tom got angrier, but the thing was Emma didn’t understand why he was doing this. He was playing with fire.

“What can’t handle the truth?” Jeremy smirked. By now Tom was shaking with anger, his breathing was heavy and he was gripping on the gun tightly.

“SHUT. UP. SHUT. UP!” Tom growled cocking the gun, his finger pressing down on the trigger. Emma Squeezed her eyes shut as the sound of the gun being fired filled the room.

Emma shoots up in her bed, covered in cold sweat. Her breathing was heavy and her heart was pounding hard in her chest as the hot tears were streaming down her face. Emma buried her face in her hands trying to calm down.

After sitting there for few minutes, Emma whiped the tears from her cheeks. Taking few deep breaths Emma got out of bed and grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the bedsides table. She wasn’t really a big smoker but cigarettes calmed her down. She walked out into the balcony and took out a cigarette, placing it into her mouth before lighting it up. She breathed in the smoke, and closed her eyes, listening to the sound of the busy street under her.  But it didn’t seem to take her mind away from the nightmare… from the memories that were haunting her, reminding her of the horrible events that happened three years ago. Her past was haunting her, even in her dreams and she couldn’t seem to escape it.
