Emma got out of bed, feeling tired. She had not been able to sleep last night due to the nightmare keeping her up all night. She just couldn’t get it out of her mind and every time she closed her eyes she was back into that warehouse. Though at one point she had fallen asleep but the few hour sleep didn’t really make her feel rested. Instead she felt like shit. Emma ran her hand through her hair, and looked at the bedsides table.
The pack of cigarettes sat there with the lid open, her lighter next to it. She grabbed one of the cigarettes, putting it into her mouth before slipping her feet into her slippers and stood up. She grabbed the lighter and walked over to the balcony door and slid it open, walking outside the cold, fresh air. Lighting up the end of the cigarette, Emma leaned against the railing and looked out at the city of New York.
She had never been in New York before. She only got to travel around the UK and a little bit of Europe but never have she been in the states. But it was probably the fact that she had only been working for small bands that we’re known only around Europe.
Emma was a roadie, guitar tech to be more exact. She has been touring around with different bands for about two years now. And it didn’t really matter to her if the bands she was touring with were big or not, as long as she was far away from Birmingham and the people she was trying so hard to avoid.
And landing the Guitar tech position for One Direction was a big thing. She was not sure why she was the one that they had chosen to hire but she was glad they had. The more time she got to spend away from Birmingham the better.
Emma finished her cigarette before walking back inside her hotel room that she was thankful she didn’t share with anyone. She walked over the suitcase and got out some clean clothes and made her way to the bathroom to take a shower.
The backstage of the venue was buzzing; people were rushing around getting everything ready for the show that was few hours away. Emma was on the stage setting up the guitars, getting them in tune. And so far things were going alright.
“Oh so you’re the new guitar tech.” A man’s voice came from behind her. Emma turned around and looked at the guy. He was tall, around 5’9, well built, good looking with light brown messy hair, and a smirk on his face. He gave away a vibe that told her that he thought that he was better than anyone else. The way he carried himself just screamed cocky.
“Never thought that they would hire a girl to replace Frank, I mean, do you even know what you’re doing?” The guy asked her.
“Oh believe it or not, I do” She told him and placed the guitar on its stand and turned her back to him and started to set up the amps. She was already getting annoyed with that guy.
“Hey, I’m just saying, you don’t really look like a girl that would know anything about guitars, to be honest with you.” He told her, looking her up and down. Emma turned around and raised her eyebrow at him, with a “are you fucking kidding me” expression on her face.
“And what do I look like” She asked him, crossing her arms across her chest, leaning against one of the amps.
“Well you look like a girl that would be playing with makeup and clothes not with guitars.” He told her smirking.
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, but you know what, seeing a girl work on guitars…. It’s quite sexy and it turns me on” He said walking up to her and trapping her by putting his arms on the each side of her.
Emma smirked and placed her hands on his chest, playing along.
“How about you and me go somewhere where it’s quieter?” He whispered huskily into her ear.
