Fractions Undead

Chapter 1

I don’t even remember how it started, one day everything was normal and then the next I was fighting dead people on the streets.

A girl peaks out holding gun at the ready looks around then nods and a man and a small girl steps out the girl has a tear streaked face and the man is covered in blood splatter. The man starts walking and the girl picks up the child, “don’t worry, Emma, we will keep you safe. Maybe we can even find your aunt” The man scoffs, “don’t promise her that, we have no idea who this kid is” She puts the girl down and takes her hand. “She’s just a child” he turns around with a ferrous face. “She’s another mouth to feed, and a life to watch over!” the female looks down and quietly sighs mumbling “I know”  

They walk quickly to a running car with a frighten looking 50 year old woman sitting in the driver’s seat, they get in putting the supplies in the trunk of the car and the driving away the little girl crying lightly. The lady driving the car looks in the mirror, “and what is your name little one?” Emma looks up wiping tears from her face. “Em-…Emma, my name is Emma” the lady driving smiles, “well Emma my name is Meredith” little Emma smiles and say’s “nice to meet you Meredith” she looks over to the woman who carried her, “what’s your name?” the girl looks at Emma and then back out the window. “Call me Ash” she sighs and watches as the dead try to grab at the moving car. 

They pull up to a big gate and honk the horn twice and the gate opens they drive thru and park the car in front of an apartment complex’s main building, the complex looks like a fully normal town. The little girl’s face brightens “wow” she gets out “how is this place ok?” Meredith smiles, “magic” she takes the girl’s hand and leads her into the main building, a man holding a gun and looks like he’s army walks over to Ash. “How did you find her?” nodding to the little girl. “Screams were coming from a house she watched her parents turn and then hid in a closet, that girl has some lungs”  

The guy sighs, “she’s alone…where are we going to put her?” Ash looks at him. “It’s not my job to place her” Ash hands him the bag she was carrying and walks away. 

Ash unlocking an apartment door she drops her keys on the coffee table as she toes off her shoes and sits on the couch and pulls out a candy bar from her pocket. “Man, have I been missing you” she says as opening the candy bar and talking a bite. There’s a knock at the door and she hides the candy bar and wipes her mouth, getting up to open the door. She opens it and it’s the guy from the gate with Emma. “Can I help you?” the guys smiles and picks up Emma. “Well, Ash, I’m placing Little Emma here in your care until farther notice” Ash sighs heavily. “Eric please don’t do this” Eric smiles. “It’s not my job to place people I just bring them to their new homes” Ash takes Emma from Eric and closes the door on Eric. “So Emma, Can you keep a secret?” Emma nods her head, and smiles as Ash pulls out the candy bar ripping off a piece and handing it to Emma. 

“Ash? Can I ask you a question?” Emma looks at the older girl shyly. “Ask away little one” “how come the lights work here? But not anywhere else” “cause we use the sun to power our stuff” Emma makes an “o” face and starts to look around the apartment.

Ash sits in the living room watching little Emma looks about the apartment. “What are you looking for?” Emma speaks from the bedroom in the back, “a place to sleep” Ash gets up and walks to the room, “you’re tired already?” Emma is climbing onto the bed “yea mommy made me walk all night and day until she…changed?” “Did your mommy tell you where she was taking you?” Emma gets onto the bed. “No,” she yawns, “she just said it was by the city and the signs said it was safe” Emma’s eyes start to close. “Get some sleep, Pumpkin.” Ash closes the bedroom door, puts on her shoes and knocks on her neighbors door, when it opens there’s a teenage boy. “Hey Kyle I need you to watch Emma” “who?” Kyle asks confused. “I got a stay in and she’s like 8 and she just went down for a nap and I need you to watch her” “oh-…Okay? Where are you going?” "I need to talk to Eric about something and it can’t wait” Ash runs down the stairs and starts running to the front gate. “Eric!” he turns with a ‘quiet!’ look on his face and then takes a few shots with his bow, probably killing the dead. “What now Ash? I heard of dead are coming.” Ash is trying to catch her breath, as Eric jumps down from the wall. “I-…I know,” Ash still trying to catch her breath after her run and Eric gives her a puzzling look. “What?” “Emma…she said there was signs that her family was following to get to a safe place” she looks at Eric. “They’re back.”

Reminder this was writen as a script! I tried to make it less like a script but it's kinda how I write.
