Ryder pulled Marlene by her hand around to the passenger side of the car.
"M'lady," he said pulling open the door. "your chariot awaits." Marlene giggled and slid into the leather seats, warmed by the sun. He had a vintage car with white leather seats and a blood red interior.
"I like your car." she said, running her hand along the dash. He slid into the drivers seat, smiling at her.
"Yeah," he sighed. "she's a real beaut." He put the key in the ignition and started the car. Flicking the blue fuzzy dice in the window he pulled out of the parking lot and onto the road. "So where to Lene?" he asked, glancing over at Marlene.
"Lene?" she asked, looking over at him, wishing he weren't driving so she could see his beautiful green eyes.
"Yeah Lene, short for Marlene." he chuckled, amused by her confusion.
"No one's ever called me that before." she said, blushing and casting her eyes downward. "I like it." she gave him the directions, then put her head against the window and watched the world fly by outside. She stayed like this a while, lost in thought.
I am in the car with the mysterious new kid who's so hot he makes my teeth sweat, and he just gave me a nickname. Does he like me, or is he just being friendly? Ugh this stuff is so confusing at least before I could admire R-
Her thoughts were cut short as Ryder turned onto the street she directed him to.
"An arcade?" he said, pulling the car into the lot of Ricky's. He couldn't hide his surprise, and Marlene looked up at him alarmed.
Does he think I'm immature for taking him to an arcade?! God I am such an idiot. What the hell is wrong with me?
"I can't believe you like arcades too!" he grinned looking over at her. "They're one of my favorite places in the world!" He parked the car and cut the ignition. "Well come on what are you waiting for?" He practically leapt out of the car in anticipation.
Marlene opened the door and went to stand up, but her foot got caught on the strap of her backpack.
"Toss it in the backseat." Ryder said as he helped her to her feet. "Better get used to things being back there." he winked.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my GOD. DID HE JUST!? No. NO! Maybe he's got a flirty personality because there is no way he meant THAT!
"Come on Lene." he said, pulling her towards the frosted glass doors of the arcade.
"Coming Rai." she said with a small smile, fighting back the urge to throw up the butterflies in her stomach.
//Author's Note//
Hi! Sorry it's been a while since I've updated but some things happened and I had to step away from my writing for a while. But I'm back and better than ever! I will be uploading regularly on this story as well as Dark Heart, as I want to write as much as possible. Thank you to the few people who have read my work thus far, I really appreciate your support!! Yes this chapter was short but I hope to start making each one a bit longer, if you have any suggestions I'd be glad to take them!
As always, take care and I love you <3
