Chapter Nine
Sprites

Abigail's POV

I stayed inside my room all day. I didn't want to leave, I didn't want to meet new people, I didn't want to get lost in the castle, and i definitely didn't want to run into my so called "mate". I was exhausted already.
My stomach grumbled notifying me of my hunger, and I looked at the time
12:49 am.

The sounds of the hallways seemed to have quieted down a few hours ago. I decided maybe now was a good time to explore, and maybe find the kitchen. No one was around, I would be alone, finally. I couldn't deny that the castle was beautiful.

I started to walk around the hallways, they were huge, large ceilings, so much art and windows to show off the gorgeous scenery.
There were so many hallways, all kinds of sets of stairs leading to who knows where.
I wish I had a map of this place.

I had socks on so the cool floors were slippery under my feet, I must admit it was a bit fun to slide around. This was all so new to me, species in this castle existed that i didn't even know of. Who knew fairies even existed.

I kept walking around the hallways until I came to a huge dining room. It was a maroon purple like color, large windows with satin curtains that sloped over them. I wondered what it looked like during the day. I kept walking until I found the kitchen. The lights were on and i heard people moving around inside.

I peeked in and saw people preparing food, talking quietly amongst themselves.
"Shh! I sense someone is nearby." I heard one of the women whisper. She wore a pink apron with white clothes underneath, her hair in a bun and her ears pointed. I noticed her eyes were bigger than a normal humans, a bright pink color, and a tiny button nose. Definitely not a human or a werewolf.

A man not so much taller than her with the same eyes started walking towards me, and being me I froze there, unsure of what move I would make.
He looked around the corner to where I was hiding and gasped. I still, stood there, with a quizzical look on my face in an awkward stance.

"Oh! It's, well it's you! We weren't expecting you so late, especially not without the Alpha Kin-"

"It's the Luna Queen!" The woman with pink apron squealed.

Another woman, with the same hairdo and pink eyes as her but with a blue apron looked annoyed.
"Shut up Freya, those stupid werewolves have crazy good hearing. You think you'd know by now after working here 5 years."

"Uh, Hi." I said, now standing tall amongst these 3 .. people?
"Sorry to startle you guys, I was just hungry."

"Of course dear, what would you like?"The woman I'm assuming is named Freya asked me.

"I don't know, what do people here eat?"

"Hah shes a funny one." The man exclaimed. "I'm Benny, that's Freya, and that's Shaya. We prepare the food in the nighttime, and sometimes during the day."

"Oh, nice to meet you, I'm Abigail." I said calmly. "Not to be rude or anything but, what are you guys?" I asked, still standing in my spot.

The woman with the blue apron, Shaya, scoffed. "Sprites, hunny. And what are you, an oaf?"

"I'm just somebody who doesn't want to be here in this castle talking to a rude 4 foot 11 sprite." I retorted back to her. If she was going to give me attitude I was going to give it back. It was almost 1 am, I wasn't really expecting to deal with whatever this was.

Benny and Freya looked back at each other.
"I like her." Shaya said, and then walked away.
"Goodnight, Queen"
