you gazed up into the sky, frowning as you shifted your feet to the left. this was so pointless. levi had just led his squad into the huge trees and erwin didn't have a plan. you glanced at jean, who looked around just as warily. he stood on a branch a few feet above you, but you could still see the worry in his expression. you sighed and squinted your eyes as the sun glared directly into them.
''are you okay?'' jean asked. you blinked and wiped the sweat off your brow.
''im fine i guess, but my legs are killing me. you?''
''this whole thing is bullshit'' he confessed. i shifted my gaze to the ground, where groups of titans grasped at the tree trunks.
''i agree. running into this without a plan will kill us.'' you said, sitting down. the wind blew a little bit stronger and hit your face. something didn't feel right.
it was a painfully loud noise, coming directly from the forest. you stood up right away, almost falling off the branch you were on. you whipped your head to turn around, trying to see anything that would give you some explanation to what you just heard. the pounding of feet broke your concentration as groups of titans began running into the forest. what the..?
''w-why are they going in?!'' jean asked wide eyed. you turned to look at armin, who held the same expression. your eyes focused on a single titan, most likely abnormal, start climbing the base of the tree.
''what the hell?'' you wondered aloud, making jean and armin both look in your direction.
''so they can learn.'' armin said, brows furrowed in thought. you turned, reaching for jeans hand to pull you up to his branch. he grabbed your hand, and you climbed up to meet him.
you stood in silence and shock, watching the abnormal continue up the tree's trunk.
''hey, i think i know what erwins plan was this whole time.'' he says warily.
''really?''
''yeah. he wanted to lead the female titan into the forest to capture it. well, more like to capture whoever's inside it.'' you sighed and turned to look at the abnormal, who had fallen and lost all of its progress in climbing the tree. jean puts his arms around you and lays his head on your shoulder.
''i love you, you know that right?'' he asks, face buried into your shirt.
''of course i know that, you're just saying that now because you think i'll die or something.''you rolled your eyes and brushed him away.
''we have to go, we can't just stand around and wait to get eaten.'' you said, watching mikasa and sasha fly off into the forest to help. he straightened up and rubbed the back of his neck.
''you're right. i'll stay here with armin and wait for instruction. please don't die.'' he pleaded. you smirked, pulling out your swords and readying them.
''see you later horse face.'' you hooked your gear onto the next tree and swung, deeper into the forest.
