Chapter 3

It was early in the morning and the girls in my dorm were sleeping. I wasn’t. It was payback time. I already had put on my brand new Gryffindor uniform and I held my arm stretched with my wand in my hand as I got out of the room with beds.

As I looked around to be sure there wasn’t anyone up already, my head snapped from left to right and back to left, before really fast going to right again. Crap, now my neck hurts.

I sprinted the distance to the boys dorms, and I soon found the one with James, Sirius, Remus and Peter in it.

I laid down the package that I was carrying under my arm on the ground. I got up very early to do some preparations.

I got off the wrapping I had put around it, and with a simple spell both of the chickens started to rise. As soon as they were high enough, I moved my wand and pointed it first at James and then at Sirius. One chicken flew to the first mentioned boy and the other one to the second.

When they hang exactly above their heads, I dropped the spell and by doing that let the chickens fall on the boys heads.

The next thing I heard was screaming, and I quickly ran down the stairs to then fall on the couch as I started laughing.

‘WHAT THE HELL… GET IT OFF ME!’ I could hear Sirius yell. ‘WHAT IS THIS STUFF? IT’S STICKY!’ James yelled. ‘SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU!’ Remus yelled. It seemed as if somebody was a bit moody today…

‘WHO DID THIS?!’ they both yelled as they stormed into the common room.

You should’ve been there, seriously. I had never seen something this funny in my entire live. Both of them had pieces of the chicken in their shirts or on their head, and the sauce was in their faces and clothes.

I continued laughing, until I all of a sudden felt a stream of ice-cold water on me.

I screamed as I looked at the boys who seemed to enjoy themselves. ‘OH NO YOU DIDN’T JUST AQUAMENTI ME’ I yelled, furious. They immediately stopped smirking, or whatever they were doing. ‘THIS IS ON’ I yelled, before I started chasing them, firing every single hex I could think of at them. When I was out of hexes and curses, I dried myself and wanted to go to the girls dorm, before I saw the crowd that had gathered around us.

‘There is nothing to see here people! Just some idiots with a chicken on their heads’ I said before pushing my way through the people.

As I finally reached my dorm, I saw Macy, Emily and Lily looking at me. ‘What?’ I asked. ‘You really did it, didn’t you?’ Macy asked. ‘What?’ I replied again, pretending to not know what they were talking about. ‘Holy cow’ Emily said. I looked at her.

‘Why are cows holy?’ I asked her before I grabbed my bag and got out of the dorm again, ready for breakfast.

‘And so you can change a living thing into a.. Oh, miss Benett, how nice of you to show up’ the voice of the teacher said, making me drown in a bath of sarcasm.

As I ran into the transfiguration classroom, I tripped over the doorstep and I fell to the ground. In my head I swore with every swear word I knew.

‘I’m so sorry for being late! I really couldn’t help it! I got lost and it’s all so big here and… Someone should really clean this place! Jeez!’ I said, looking at the floor with disgust.

‘That is enough, miss Benett. Sit down’ professor McGonagall said. I quickly took a seat next to Emily. ‘What the hell do you think you’re doing?’ she whispered to me. ‘I got lost! Seriously, there are so many stairs and doorways and..’ ‘Miss Benett! Why don’t you come over here and change this fly into a flask’ professor McGonagall interrupted me.

‘Okay, of course’ I said as I got up, getting out my wand. As I walked over to her desk, I read the spell on the board.

I kept telling myself over and over again that I was going to be fine, and that there was nothing to worry about. No, I was going to fail. I was going to fail miserably.

Then I looked back to see James and Sirius snickering. Remus was sitting at the table in front of them with Peter. Poor Remus, Peter was a dumbass.

But I knew why James and Sirius were snickering. They knew I was going to fail. And that was the reason why I wasn’t going to.

I reached the desk, got out my wand and pointed it at the fly. ‘Flakonium’ I said, and in front of my eye, the small black thing changed into a crystal clear flask. You could look straight through it, as if it was a window.

James and Sirius immediately stopped snickering. McGonagall looked at me with a somewhat… Odd expression. ‘My lord’ she said, as took the extraordinary piece into her hands. When she realized that she was still in class, she put it back down. ‘That was enough, miss Benett’ she said. But before I sat down, she added something else. ‘5 points to Gryffindor’ she said.

‘She scares me!’ I exclaimed as we had left the classroom. ‘Shh, not so hard! She might still be able to hear us!’ Macy said as she slapped me.

‘Ouch! Thanks for hurting my wand arm’ I said, overdramatic. Lily rolled her eyes, but stayed silent. She was so silent today. I wondered what was bothering her.

‘Are you okay?’ I therefore asked her when Macy and Emily had fallen into some discussion about the full moon and werewolves and crap.

‘Yeah, it’s Sev…’ she said. ‘And… Who’s Sev?’ I asked her clueless.

‘Oh, you of course don’t know! He is a friend of mine, already from before Hogwarts, and he is in Slytherin and… I shouldn’t bother you with this..’ the red haired girl said.

‘I’m a good listener’ I said with a smile. Lily sighed, and started to tell me a story about how Severus, which came out to be his real name, had been acting weird lately, and as if it seemed like he didn’t want to be around her anymore.

I kept thinking of this all day, trying to make up some advice, but when the dinner had arrived, I still was empty.

‘My lord’ I heard a voice in a very good imitation of McGonagall say. ‘What was so special that Minnie practically feinted?’ Sirius asked me as he and the boys caught up with me. The girls were in the great hall already, and I wasn’t, obviously.

‘I did what she asked me to do’ I said. I then looked at Remus, but he just glared in the distance. As if something was terribly wrong. ‘Is he okay?’ I asked Sirius in whisper tone.

‘Oh yeah he is fine, no worries. He wanted that compliment in charms’ he said with a smirk, that smirk that I was starting to get tired of, before he poked me in the stomach.

‘Ouch! What was that for?’ I exclaimed. ‘For giving me a freaking proboscis!’ he said, before walking into the hall as if he owned it again.

I looked at James just in time to see him rolling his eyes, before he caught up with his friend. Eventually, Remus and Peter joined, leaving me alone in this corridor.

‘FOREVER ALONE!’ I yelled at the top of my lungs, before I ran into the hall as well, pretending to be an airplane.
