chapter 6

(Y/N's POV)

I looked this girl dead in the eyes and everything I've ever been taught had flowed through my head. I looked over and saw Hawk sitting by himself, i'm guessing to pick up girls, and we make eye contact and I smile. The referee makes us shake hands and this girl throws the first punch and i dodged it so close I could feel the wind right against my nose. I had been feeling the anger build up. So I grab her from behind and kick her legs forward so I have the advantage above her with her head still locked. She tried to distract and take a jab at my ribs before i leap back to set her free. I go in for my infamous roundhouse kick, and she catches me and pins me to the ground, and I see the red flag go up.

I just fucking lost, in front of all these people, in front of Sensei, in front of fucking Hawk. How am I gonna be able to face him again this is so humiliating, I let him get in my head.

I start to take my hair out of the braids I had tied back on the bus and threw my water down into my bag. I pick it up and start to move towards the locker room to hide in the bathroom when I remember I had promised Eli i'd see his fight, so I hold back the tears and try to cool my face off and I plop down on the boy's side where I wait for him to fight. He's down at the floor and he makes his way up the stairs to talk to me and before he can say anything I cut him off.

"Don't even start, I don't wanna hear it, just go out there and focus on kicking that kid's ass"

He looks at me and he starts to explain, " Y/n i just wanted to say I'm proud of you," and he leans in and looks around and whispers ", and i would kiss you right now but Sensei is giving me the scariest look I've ever seen and we're already on his shitlist"

I giggle and tell him again to go out there and kick some ass. Aisha comes up behind me and starts questioning me right away.

"Are you crazy? What the hell is up with you and HAWK? What happened in that hotel room and why does Sensei look like he'll kill Hawk with his bare hands right now?? He's not the reason you lost, right?"

I let her slow down and I begin to explain nothing is happening, it's just a crush I'll get over soon enough.

I knew that wasn't true though. I had liked him for far too long to just let go of my old feelings. They had been dug up and I was reminded of the old Eli last night and I miss him more than anything.

"it's nothing dude, look he's up next let's watch" I say to try to deter Aisha from this interrogation.

Hawk usually never gets in his own head which I guess is a good thing. He starts off strong, with four punches and the last one he threw had knocked his opponent off his feet. He yelled out and smacked him back down to the floor the second the poor kid got up. Before I knew it, the match was over. He had thrown his hands up and ran up to me.

"YES DUDE WE'RE GONNA WIN" I said and without hesitation, I wrapped my arms around him and I think it caught him off guard because he pulled back and looked at me with confusion and I let go and said, "I'm happy for you that's all."

Me and him sat together the rest of the tournament and talked about DC shows up in the corner of the bleachers where no one could hear the two nerds discuss the newer season. Miguel eventually came up to us and tried to figure out what was happening, squinting and raising his eyebrows while doing so, when it finally clicked, he blurted out, "so are you guys together or what?"

I turned so red i felt my face get hot and I turned to look at Hawk to see if he said anything, him being just as red as me, and to which of course neither of us had an answer.

The tournament went on for an extra half hour and it was eventually over, so me and hawk made our way over to the exit when he stopped me by grabbing my shoulder and turning me around so I was looking at him.

He leaned over and whispered in my ear, "Y/n do you know what we're gonna do when we get back?"

I grabbed the collar of his shirt and muttered "I have a pretty good idea, don't get your hopes up for the bus ride, I haven't sulked about my loss yet and Sensei still is too onto us."

We throw our bags down and move into the seats in the back of the bus. Hawk looks over at me and moves himself so he's facing me and looks over to make sure there aren't too many kids around us. He goes in to kiss me and I move my head back, giving the clear nonverbal sign of 'not right now' but i couldn't help it. I felt his hand go behind my back and up my spine, causing me to squirm in my seat a little bit. He placed his other hand on my hip, inching it up towards my tits and i grab his hand before he does any groping.

"Woah what's the hold up? There's literally no one back here, please y/n"

"Jus wait we have 10 more minutes, can you wait that long?"

He looked over at me and rolled his eyes and sighing, "hmm perhaps"
