I walk upstairs to get some clothes for Jon hoping that they would fit him and it wouldn't look like a crop top on his long torso. Seeing my boss in a crop top is not on my to-do list. I set the clothes and a fresh towel outside the door. I raise my hand to knock on the door before suddenly being very nervous. The whole situation of Jon showering at my house was very weird. I take a deep breath to contain my nerves before finally knocking.
"Hey Jon, I set clothes and a clean towel out here for you," I shout.
"Thank you Y/N." He shouts back, trying to be heard over the running water.
I quickly rush out of there, wanting to avoid any potential confrontations. As I reach the kitchen I see Elizabeth cleaning the aftermath of Jon's clumsiness. I check on the food, not wanting it to burn, before grabbing some cleaning supplies myself and helping Elizabeth. After the mess has been eliminated I check on the food again and see that it is ready. With Elizabeth's help we set the table right as Jon emerges from the hallway with very wet hair.
"Glad to see those clothes fit," I comment, noticing that Jon isn't in a crop top.
"Oh yeah, they fit pretty good." he says looking down at his new flour free outfit.
"Good thing I like big clothes or else you would have been out of luck," I say with a laugh. "Also, dinner is ready. Let's eat because I am starving."
Jon lets out a laugh and we all walk over to the table and sit down with an awkward silence in the air. Soon the only sound is the clinking of utensils. I try to come up with a topic to talk about to resolve the awkward silence.
"So, do either of you know what the exact time that Verizon closes at is?" I ask.
"It's at 8 pm I think. Why? Are you planning on going to Verizon tonight?" Jon asks.
"Yeah. Elizabeth wants to change her phone number so that her ex doesn't keep contacting her," I say looking over at Elizabeth and seeing a sad look on her face.
"That sounds like a great idea Elizabeth!" Jon cheerfully says with a kind smile. Elizabeth smiles back with a weary look.
"So, do you want to leave after dinner?" I ask Elizabeth.
"The sooner the better," she says with the sigh.
"Do you two want me to come with you, or do you think you'll be okay?" Jon asks looking at both of us.
"You can come if you want." I say with a shrug.
"Eh, why not. I have nothing else to do." Jon says back.
"Field trip!" Elizabeth exclaims, which earns laughs around the table.
We all quickly finish up dinner and I take our dishes to the kitchen with the help of Jon. Jon and I work together to wash the dishes and load them into the dishwasher while Elizabeth puts the extra food away. After a few short minutes of cleanup we head out to the verizon store.
"Jon, are you alright in that?" I say, eyeing his sweatpants and a t-shirt. "I mean, you're running for public office."
"Uhh," he lets out while looking down at the clothes. "Which Version are we going to?" Jon asks as he looks at me.
"The one past near the office," I replied.
"Oh great, my house is on the way. Do you think we could drop by there on the way to the store so I can throw on some nicer clothes?" Jon asks.
I look at Elizabeth for confirmation and she nods her head, signaling my response.
"Yeah, we can do that. Let's get going." I say while grabbing my coat.
