It was well into June the next time the mention of any of the DSMP meeting was brought up. Nick had said something during a Lore stream that he was planning to go to Florida for a week and finally meet Clay.
I was almost jealous at first. I mean, shit, I wanted to meet Clay too. But I didn't say much of it.
That night, I called Nick as I sat in the darkness of my room. A heatwave had struck Texas and my air conditioning was out. I smiled when I heard his voice.
"Are you actually going to visit Clay?" I asked right off the bat. "You're really gonna leave me like that?"
I was half joking.
"God, you're so needy," he teased.
"Only for you,"
"I'm not going for a while. Maybe late August, early September. Before classes start again."
Nick hadn't fully comprehended what I'd said, and I was glad. I mentally kicked myself.
I hate myself.
"Why?"
"What do you mean, why? I want to meet my childhood friend, that's why. Not that you would know anything about having friends."
"Oh, fuck you! I have loads of friends!" I huffed. "I just don't keep in contact with a lot of them. That's all."
"When was the last time you actually talked to someone other than me?" He asked.
"You're not my main priority in life! God, your ego is massive. Not everything's about you,"
I rolled my eyes and got up to look out the window. The moon was high in the air—it reminded me of the night that we finally reconciled.
I shook away the thoughts and went to sleep with Nick still on the other end of the phone call.

-Nick:
Would you ever actually want to meet up?
Me:
That'd be cool:)
Nick:
Yeah but would you want to?
Me:
I guess so
I'm gonna have to meet my best friend one of these days
