As I was walking through the airport my phone started buzzing. Pulling off to the side I flipped it open, pressing the speaker to my ear.
"yellow ", I said tiredly. Silence. I rolled my eyes, shut my phone an placed it back in my pocket.
I swear people these days!!
Rolling my bag steadily behind me I exited the automatic doors and sat on a moist bench.
It was weird seeing little people here, nearly no one was waiting for a car, just some small girl with blonde hair and big blue eyes. As if she heard my thoughts her head turned my way.
I noticed she was my age just short. She wore a red and black plaid skirt with black stockings, black buckled shoes and a white blouse. My eyes widened as she started walking toward me.
She stopped when she reached my bench and sat with gracefulness on the cold ground by my feet.
"um.. Do you want to sit on the bench", I asked awkwardly.
"no, it makes me feel short", she replied calmly, her face of pure innocence and elegance. She stared at me for quiet awhile until I returned her gaze.
"what's your name", she asked. This girl was quiet AKWARD...
"my name is Cassidy, you", I asked and she just remained silent . She randomly answered a minute later.
"my name is anne, I am in high school ", she said quickly. I raised an eyebrow, "yeah I assumed so, so am I", I said. Her eyes sparkled as she smiled up at me, "wow , I thought you were weird for a second", she let out a nervous chuckle and I stared at her wide eyed.
"I suppose I am", I shrugged and she turned to look at me, her curls bouncing off her shoulders.
"so am I", she said quietly . I laughed and she frowned at me. "what's funny", she said lowly.
"well we are both weird yet we act as if we are trying so hard to be normal", I laughed and she smiled lightly .
"I suppose we are", she murmured . Suddenly a carriage pulled up. Beautiful white horses were reigned up to the brown carriage.
I stared in awe at it as the little girl stood up.
"we'll I'm kinda the mayors daughter", she shrugged and I smiled. "I love horses", I commented. She laughed, "you must be new, horses are the way everyone travels around here, no cars, it's bad for the environment", she explained cheerily.
"wow, they are beautiful ", I smiled lightly. The girl stared at me , smiling.
"okay we'll I gotta go, see you at school maybe", she asked an I nodded . When she got in the carriage she poked her head out the window. "come over sometime, we can ride my horses", she yelled and a huge smile lit her face as she waved as the carriage pulled away. I waved back, a smile on my own face.
I'm starting to love this place .
I turned to find an older man watching me with glistening black eyes. I looked away from his intense gaze. He had a chilly demeanor , and his posture was firm . He was somehow off in this peaceful town. I passed by him with a Walking pace and waited at the edge of the road.
"don't stand to close", he said in a low voice and I turned, startled.
Suddenly a pounding of hooves came from down the dirt road and I firm hand grasped my arm , pulling me back just as horses barreled down the road, racking up dirt and rocks. They disappeared minutes later down the path.
I turned toward the eerie man and looked at his weary, tired looking face.
"thanks", I said breathlessly. He gave me a curt nod before releasing my arm. Suddenly a familiar voice yelled out my name.
"Cassidy ", grandpa shouted. His light blond hair was parted in little strands as he smiled, his eyes wrinkling.
"I see you have met mr. Darkwen ", my grandpa said, giving the man a firm handshake.
"well its time to go, your grandma won't get off my back about seeing you", he said. My grandpa was in great shape as he towed me away.
"grandpa are we riding horses", I asked and he laughed. "we have one yes", he replied. As we climbed on a beautiful brown mare , I looked back to see the older man watching me, suddenly a shadow appeared at his side but before I could see who it was we were taking off down the dirt road.
