When we reached town we slowly trotted down the road. We passed a small library, a grocery store and a bakery. There were people all the sidewalks, all who my grandpa knew. Apparently it was a small town, where every one knew everyone. Just the way I liked it.
"well, we are here", my grandpa said, hopping off the horse then helping me down with a firm hand. I smiled at the small , faded pink house with open windows and a brick chimney. Walking up the stone pathway, my fingers traced the white fence. I spotted my favorite swing on the porch where the same initials were, of mine.
"it's just like I remember", I smiled. "yeah it sorta is, your grandma wouldn't change a thing, well except your bedroom", he chuckled and opened the front door. As soon as we stepped inside the homely house my nose was filled with the sweet fragrance of cookies. Not just any cookies, they were chocolate chip, my favorite.
No sooner had I stepped one foot into the brightly lit kitchen , I was pulled into a tight embrace.
"oh my dear, you have grown so beautiful", my grandma blushed, picking up one of my light brown curls and dropping it lightly .
"oh my child, the same color eyes as your father, such beauty in those blue oceans, but you have your mothers defined face and elegant beauty", she mused causing a light tint to spread across my cheeks .
"grandma might I say you look rather young", I said in a British accent causing her to roll her eyes. "no need to flatter me darling , I'm old enough as it is", she chided.
"now come along, I can't WAIT to show you your room", she giggled, wrapping her soft hands around my petite wrist and tugging me down the hallway.
"I picked the room that will give you best privacy", she smiled, leading me into a big , baby blue room with a white canopy bed and a window with long white curtains. White furniture from dressers to plush chairs filled the room. I'm the corner a silk black piano shone next to the open window where a faint breeze filtered in.
I gasped, "it's lovely", a breathed in. My fingers ached to touch the silky keys of the instrument, so close to my heart, my soul screaming to soak into the sweet essence of the melody the keys produce.
"why that's great, also finish soon because we would like you to explore the town", my grandma smiled. I hugged her tightly before relishing in my room once more.
When she left I hurried to unpack my bags before I hopped Into the shower.
