I still tried to contact Matt, but there was nothing. My calls would go straight to voicemail and he still won’t reply any of his texts. I am filled with guilt on the way to Naomi’s house. All I could think about was that he would just be left there, waiting for someone who’s not going to come, and I couldn’t do anything about it. It was too late to go back, since I am already in the car. I wish I could at least pop in and pop out, but knowing that my best friend needs me, she would want me to stay the night and I couldn’t refuse. As we near the street to Naomi’s home, Katherine lists all the things we’re going to do at the mall to cheer Naomi up and try to help heal her poor heart. Me and Min also contributed to the list. It must hurt so much to have deeply fallen in love with someone you love so much and then have your heart broken from them afterwards. You would spend so much time together and just lose it all. To think that he was your one true love. If only I could relate.

“Are you getting out of the car or what?” Min snapped me out of my daze.

“Huh? Um, yeah hold on.” My eyes widened and I realize that I was caught up in my thoughts again. We nervously knocked on Naomi’s door, since we hardly ever visit her home. A woman opened the door, who I think is her mother.

“Hi, Mrs. Forbes, may we speak to Naomi?” Katherine politely said.

“Sure, sure. Her room’s upstairs, make yourselves at home. I’ll be in the first room to the left downstairs if you need me.” Naomi’s mom smiled. We also smiled and nodded.

We could her soft sobs from the outside of her room while we were going up the staircase.

“She sounds so sad.” I whispered.

“I know, she could really use friends right now.” Min whispered back.

“Who’s going to knock? I’ll just do it.” Katherine stepped forward and started the knocking.

“Naomi? Naomi are you there?” She said as she knocked. Suddenly after knocking for a couple minutes, the doorknob started rotating from the other side. The door opened and revealed Naomi still in her pajamas but with tangled lion hair, her face wet with tears and her room totally a mess. We stood there for a moment shocked and our jaws dropped. As a basic instinct we went in for a big hug. She just started crying even more.

“Are you okay?” Min asked.

“Of course, she’s not okay. Can’t you tell?” Katherine said it like Min asked the most stupidest question ever.

“Hey, I was just asking!” Min said playfully. Naomi chucked a little but then she resumed crying.

“You can’t just shut us out okay? You need to go to school and I know it hurts but we’re going to get over this.” I explained.

“Yeah, please remember that we are always going to be here for you no matter what.” Katherine added.

“And that’s why we’re here today. To make sure to clarify the meaning of jerk for you. The definition is Tyler and he wasn’t worth your time or your tears. So get up and get changed because we’re going out and we’re going to have fun!” Min started picking out an outfit for Naomi to wear and we helped.

“Should we go sassy or elegant?” Katherine said while holding up two beautiful day dresses.

“Guys, you don’t need to do this, I’m fine, really.” Naomi said wiping her tears.

“No, Naomi. You do need this, you need to get over the four years that Tyler screwed you over. He’s not worth it, he played you okay?” I said trying not to sound so miserable.

“She’s right, so just let us do our job as best friends.” Min said and resumed to finding the perfect ensemble.

We told her about the activities that we would do including shopping for expensive clothes, watching a comedy movie while eating ice cream straight out of the tub and doing a total makeover. We were thinking a totally different hair color and hairstyle, since she had never changed her hair since they were first together. Then we would all get mani-pedi’s and just allow her to vent to us.

When we arrived at the mall we went straight for the salon. Since Naomi had long black straight hair, we wanted her to have blonde layered locks and give her some bangs. At this point she was susceptible to a new look so she agreed. We saw the transformation and it was amazing, like it looked like she was a different person.

“Oh my gosh!” She looked in the mirror for the first time.

“Hey that’s my god too!” Min teased.

“So how do you like it?” I asked.

“I love it! I didn’t know a new hairstyle could make me look so different!” Naomi felt her hair and she was admiring it. Still seemed pretty upset but I know we were doing a good job so far. We got our manicures and pedicures done at the same salon and she thoroughly explained the breakup. It was sad and depressing but we knew how to make her feel better. It was in that moment, I dazed out again thinking about Matt. I felt bad and I didn’t know how I could see Matt again without any feelings of guilt and shame. But I just told myself that I would deal with that later and right now, my friend needed me and I just had to deal with it. I realized my mani-pedi was done and I came back into the conversation.

“He was just so nice, and I loved him so much! Is it because I’m ugly?” Naomi tried to keep the tears in.

“No, Naomi, don’t say that. You're beautiful and embrace it. Like I said he’s a jerk and he just used you.” Min went into detail.

“Was his feelings even real? He was with that girl for two years and I didn’t know about it! How could I be so stupid!” Naomi’s tears just came running down.

“You’re not stupid Naomi, please don’t say that! Even if his feelings were real, he didn’t care enough to only love you and that’s not your fault okay?” I said and I walked over the give her a tissue.

“It’s just, I thought it was destiny for us to be together, you know what I mean? It was like we were meant for each other.” She said while blowing her nose.

“That destiny thing is so overrated, I don’t think the universe puts you guys together only to break up. Remember, everything happens for a reason and this breakup is a good thing. And there is no such thing as being meant for each other, because that isn’t a real thing.” Katherine said as she flipped the magazine page.

“Woah, that was deep.” Min laughed.

After our day of bonding at the mall, we decided to have sleep over at Naomi’s house. We’re going to watch the comedy movie as planned and also eat tubs of ice cream until our body physically rejects it.

“What flavors do you have?” Katherine asked Naomi.

“You can ask my mom she has plenty.” Naomi replied while getting ready for our mini slumber party then Katherine went straight downstairs to get us our ice cream.

It was about 10 pm and they couldn’t tell but I was very tired. But I stayed up for the sake of it. We all got different ice cream flavors. I got mint chocolate chip, Katherine has coffee, Min has bubblegum, and Naomi has chocolate chip cookie dough. We occasionally switched trying all these flavors and it was bliss. I ended up falling asleep first and I didn’t even get to finish the movie. I was still thinking about Matt, and how much of a bad friend I was to him. I hope he doesn’t make it a big deal.
