I went upstairs and got my journal, making the bed and clearing up the attic. Yes, I slept there since Dipper and Mabel left. I was used to being up there since it's where I slept in my dimension as well. But it felt 10 times more spacious since in my dimension the three of us all sleep there.
But- no matter how much I didn't like it... the day has come... Ford finished the portal and... it was time for me to return home.
Luckily, after hearing my whole story, Stan decided to teach me some self defense tactics and boxing skills. He even let me practice on him since technically if I were to have to defend myself when I'm home, I might have to actually fight... well... him! Though, if I actually tried to fight back against him... Great Uncle Stan would murder me.
Actually no, I take that back. If I actually tried to fight back against him, Stan would tell Ford and Ford would come to murder me. Simple as it is.
Speaking of Ford, when he wasn't working on the portal and Stan and I weren't sparring, he would teach me how to use my words to calm a situation down and possibly avoid a beating. Both methods of self defense could definitely come in handy... though, both could be dangerous. Fighting back escalates a situation and even though using words could calm a situation down, if I say the wrong thing it could escalate it.
Nonetheless- I was happy to receive the advice and training they gave me. The two of them, however, still felt very guilty about me going back. They felt responsible for keeping me safe and with them. I found myself constantly explaining to them that this was my decision and technically I wasn't giving them a say in it. I needed to make sure my family was okay, even if it meant leaving the safe haven I was in.
They understood that part, being family themselves.
After finishing up some things, taking a last look around, and saying goodbye to Soos... It was time. The moment I've been waiting for... but dreading at the same time.
I made my way behind the vending machine and down to the lab where the Stan bro's were waiting for me. Ford was sitting down writing something while Stan was standing over him, reading what he was putting. When I came down they quickly finished what they were doing before walking over to me.
"You ready, kid?" Stan asked. I looked down and nodded my head. Goodness how I wasn't ready... I never wanted to be ready. I never would be ready. But not going back wasn't an option. I had to.
Stan gave a little nod of his head m
"Come on, we should get Mavis home and it's pretty dusty in here." Ford said, wiping liquid from his eyes. What he doesn't know is my Stan and Ford always would yell at us if the house isn't clean and the reasoning behind that is because I have pretty bad allergies and neither of them like having to deal with any of us being sick. So, if this room was even a tiny bit dusty I'd be sneezing already. Even though he was trying his hardest to hide it, I knew he was crying.
It was nice to see him with any emotions other than anger.
Ford went over to his control panel, getting the portal online. Over the next few minutes or so Gravity reversed itself a few times which, I actually never felt before but Ford explained to me that this happens because the portal is starting. So I dismissed it.
After a final time of Gravity reversing itself, the portal was online and... Ford told me it was time... The three of us walked into the portal room with the giant glowing, upside down triangle portal in the center... I gulped at the sight of it.
