No ones POV
She took a deep breath in through her nose taking in all the sounds smells and vibes of this new city.
She's in awe that she's finally here after all of her hard work and determination. She knew she'd get here but the feeling is still so surreal. After years of studying and flying to and from this beautiful city doing jobs and learning more and more about her career she's finally able to call it her home.
The cool wind of LA blows her blonde hair behind her back cascading down her black Aerosmith hoodie that she stole from her brother years ago. She can feel the hair on her arms stand up as the goosebumps spread down her long tanned legs that have only ripped blue Jean shorts to cover part of her best feature.
The smile that is spread across her face is one of accomplishment and content in knowing she's finally where she wants to be.
The moving truck beeps behind her as it backs into the driveway of her apartment waiting to be unloaded of all of her things from home.
She feels her back pocket vibrate, pulling out her phone to see it's her mom calling.
"Hello" she grins with her white teeth showing through.
"Hey baby, did you make it ok? I haven't heard from you in almost 2 hours" her mom asks with a sign of worry in her voice.
"Yes mom I finally made it to my new home, I can't believe I'm finally here"
"I'm so proud of you Lill. You've earned it all with hard work and determination, to be where you've always belonged" she can sense her mom getting choked up through the call as she turns to see a lady in a black pantsuit with a fuchsia blouse popping from under the fitted blazer walking towards her down the cracked sidewalk.
"Hi are you Ms. um-" she searches her clipboard held in her hand "oh Ms. Lillian James?" looking at the girl through her glasses perched on the end of her nose.
"Yes that's me! I know you told me which apartment I would be in but I've forgotten could you refresh my memory please?" Lillian chuckles awkwardly knowing she probably should know where she needs to go but not wasting time trying to remember.
She's exhausted from the cross country trip from her home state of Georgia. They left yesterday morning at 7 with her driving her Grey Volkswagen Beetle and the moving truck following her. They stopped at a hotel in Amarillo, Tx and slept for a few hours and got back on the road.
"Yes ma'am it's 1636 in building one right here in the front." Lillian nods, remembering the number on the lease paperwork she signed.
"Thank you so much I'm so excited to be here"
"You're welcome, we're glad to have you. Well,
I just wanted to welcome you and bring you your keys! Good luck, let me know if you need anything!" With that the lady was gone after handing her the keys to the apartment.Lillian turns back and starts walking towards her apartment using the signs as guidance. The last corner she turns she comes face to face with the door that has her number on a stone on the top of the door frame. She smiles and pushes the silver key into the dead bolt to unlock it. With ease it opens and reveals her small one bedroom one bathroom apartment with a small living room and kitchen all in one room.
She breathes in again taking in the musty smell of the old apartment filling her with excitement and adventure.
She whispers to herself "I'm finally home"
