Hello, lovelies! I believe this is my first Death Note fan fiction, so please... Be kind. I tried my best to keep L in character, yet still make him romantic. I decides L is romantic in his own, strange little way. I hope I portrayed that alright.
Constructive criticism is welcome.

See? I do take requests. I just only actually write them if they're simple and interesting, because I'm a lazy bum! C;

In twenty four hours, many things can change. In the time it takes for night to come and night to pass again, one's entire life may be altered.
Death can change things. Such a sudden experience. One moment a person is with you, and the next, they are gone.
Life can change you also. The birth of a child. Suddenly there is a new presence in the world; one that has never been there before. You must wonder: Who will this child grow up to be? Will they be virtuous and right? Or will they be devoured by darkness and whither away in the infamous evil of our world?
But what changes us more than anything? It's something nobody really understands. Something so gentle and sweet, yet dangerous and can crush you in a matter of seconds.
The most dangerous, risky thing on the planet: Love.
Where did I discover this "love"?
Well, what's the first letter in the word?

"Hey." A voice whispers from behind me.
I turn, knowing exactly who it is, though I've never met him.
"You know who I am."
It was more him confirming my suspicion, than a question.
I nod my head once and he gracefully turns on his heels. I follow without hesitation. I feel a great deal of trust towards this somewhat-stranger.
I note how, although one would expect him to be more sophisticated and prime, considering his status in this world, he appears rather dark and unbalanced. His arms hang loosely at his sides, and his back is hunched over, as if he sits down too much. He is clothed not in a carefully tailored business suit, but in a simple white T-shirt, and blue jeans. He wears only socks on his feet.
He looks over his shoulder to glance at me, and I notice how pale his skin is. He may not get much sun. Not only that, but there are dark circles under his piercing eyes. He must not get much sleep either.
Finally, we reach a dimly lit room, holding many computers and mountains of paper work. This must be the famous "Kira Investigation Headquarters".
"L," I finally speak his name.
He says not a word, but merely stares at me, waiting.
I continue, "I must ask now: Why have you brought me here?"
I received a sudden phone call just hours ago, in which an unfamiliar voice informed me that I was needed in a very important investigation with the famous detective, L. Uncertain of it all, I questioned the caller as of why I, a simple girl, was needed in such an investigation. They simply told me that I would be informed of the details when I arrived, and that a private plane was on it's way then to pick me up.
I've always been an adventurous soul, so I came.
L sits on a computer chair, his knees pulled up to his chest, and his feet supporting his weight. What made him this way?
"I asked you to come here, based on a lie." L casually informs me, lifting a chocolate to his lips.
"A lie?" I ask, confused, "What do you mean; a lie?"
L continues to pop chocolate after chocolate into his mouth, pausing to speak to me, "I mean that I do not actually need your assistance in my investigation."
My eyes widen.
"Then why...?"
He does not let me finish.
"I've been watching you."
I gasp slightly, "Watching me?"
L licks his lips. "Yes."
"For how long?" I don't know why this is the first question that pops into my still-in-shock head, but it is.
"Months." He states plainly, staring deep into my eyes, as if he is anticipating my reaction.
I take a step closer to him, and I think I hear him take in a breath.
"What is it that you truly want with me?" I ask the genius.
"You." He almost whispers, "I just want you."
I gasp. This person, who I am admired from seeing his work on television since I was young, is telling me that he wants me?
L stands and saunters over to me, his eyes still not leaving mine.
He explains himself,
"I first saw you during one of my first investigations. You were only a young teenager, as was I. You were standing outside the crime scene, such a innocent curiosity played about your face. It showed me that you yearned to learn, to know the truth, just as I do. Since then I continued to have my people keep an eye on you and give me reports. I wanted to see if that fire of yours would burn out, like so many do. I suppose you could say I was- no, I am... infatuated with you."
I take another step closer to him, and he audibly swallows.
"Watching you grow and develop into a woman, how beautiful you became did not go unnoticed by me." He adds, "That was when I began to feel a new type of desire. Not just the desire to watch you, but the desire to be with you, to feel that flame that burns within you."
L closes the distance between us, and my face grows red. I do not know what to say.
"I've wanted to..." L's warm breath is on my face, "taste you."
My eyes widen as he inclined his head and locks his lips onto mine. He tastes like chocolates. Involuntarily, my arms snake around his neck. He seems to like this, and grabs my waist, pulling me closer to him, and deepens the kiss, his tongue hungrily devouring my mouth. I moan and he shudders.
L gently pulls his lips from mine, but our faces stay inches apart.
"You taste even better than my sweets." He states calmly, as he stares into my eyes.
I blush horribly. How can he say such a thing in such a calm manor?
He licks his lips and whispers, "I want more." before pulling me roughly back into him and hungrily devouring me once more.
My shyness leaks away as I kiss him back just as desperately. And I realize that I am in love with the first letter of the word that changed me.
