Waking up felt tedious. Never before had the meagre task of snapping open the eyes and lifting her body loomed so tiring and difficult. Janice could clearly hear the steady throbs at the back of her head which was worsening with every passing second."Good morning Jellybean" Her sister winked as she shut the door of the closet. So I slept here?
"You're lucky that Mom left with Dad and Kevin, otherwise waking up at 10. You would have been doomed"
Janice did not intend to wake up this late. But the worse contributing fact was that she woke up feeling unbearably tired nor could she remember much about how and where did she happen to doze off except the fact that she had carried off a book to her granny's room and then...maybe a pair of eyes...weirdly mysterious and...ruby red?
"Can you get me an aspirin?" Janice inhaled sharply as she pressed her temples with her index finger.
Marilyn who was on the verge of sorting the sheets stopped in her tracks. "Hey, you're okay?" She asked stepping closer to her sister.
"Yeah" Janice sounded confident. "Just a bit of headache"
"Firstly you wake up at 10 in the morning and then you complain of a headache?" Marilyn rose up with a deliberate switch to her mother mode. "Mom is already mad at you. You know our new rules right now that we are not in New Delhi anymore."
"Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. Yeah, I know but repeating this obsolete line won't change the night owl that I am" Janice asserted plainly.
Marilyn sighed and threw the sheets over. "Do you remember that Dylan is taking you out today? He'll show you the town and you guys have a noon show at 1 and lunch at the Ruksin's Junket"
"Shit!" Janice face-palmed herself "How did I even forget this" Yielding a swift push to her duvet, she climbed down the bed finding Marilyn smirking to her dismay.
"Now what?" Janice could sense her own infuriation taking the front seat at her sister's gestures.
"Did you go farming in the middle of the night?" She snickered watching the mud accumulated in Janice's heels.
Marilyn's comment makes her attention shift to her heels, it seemed as though she had dug her feet in a puddle. How could that be technically possible?
"This is not possible, is it?" Marilyn staggered in shock but soon regained her composure as something clicked in her mind.
"Damn this Kevin!" Marilyn snorted. "Surely you two have gone out last night"
"No...No...I didn't. I mean if I had, I would have remembered it right?" Janice's voice sounded perplexed. "I mean I did go to Grandma's room last night but beyond that.."
"Wait you kids" Marilyn snarled. "I'll make sure the two of you are grounded"
"No, you won't!" Janice reverted.
