The last thing I remembered was listening to a joke Mitchell was telling, then I felt lightheaded and everything went black. I woke up, in a strange hospital with strange people and strange surroundings. I was confused a first, but I started to remember what happened. Shit. Shit. Shit. Mitchell was probably at home right now, sleeping in his bed, pretending nothing had happened. He was probably really creeped out and most likely thought I was a weirdo. I wanted to cry, but I knew this would not be a good place to start bawling like a baby. Just then, a doctor walked in and he didn't look too pleased, even if I hadn't said anything to him at all.

"Miss McClendon... Please tell me what happened last night?"

I knew that this was going to happen.

"I was with a... friend, and I tripped and scraped my knee."

"So you did not forget to take your pills today?"

I never took my pills, that little dumbshit. Of course he couldn't have known that.

"Miss McClendon, you know you are a hemophiliac, why didn't you take your pills?"

Or maybe he did know that. HOW??

"Uh, I don't know, I guess I just forgot."

He made that weird noise that teachers make when you don't turn in your homework; it is like the ticking of a clock, like tut tut tut.

He finally spoke." Well, unless you want to visit me again, I strongly recommend that you take those pills." I nodded my head and he headed for the door.

Just then, he turned back and looked at me. "Oh yes, you may leave here in about an hour or two. And one last thing, your friend has been here all day and night, and he is most bothersome. If I let him in, will you make him leave?"

My heart was racing. So he hadn't gone home! He hadn't forgotten about me!

"Oh course Sir!" I said, maybe a little too eccentrically.

Mitchell came running into the room, with flowers and a small box in his hand.

"Oh my fucking god. What the hell happened?!?" He ran over to the bed and looked at me with his bright blue eyes. He layed a kiss on my forehead.

"I am, well I'm a...Hemophiliac. I didn' want to tell you because anyone I would tell would treat me like a baby, or a glass ball, trying not to expose me to anything that could possibly hurt me. I liked you because you treated me like I was me. Not some glass ball."

Mitchell just stared at me. Shit he looked so cute.

"Mace, I haad no idea. I'm so sorry. Sorry for asking why you didn't play sports or cheerleading. I get it now. Sorry for looking at you weird when you got so scared about your cut. It all  makes sense now, and I'm really sorry."

I said that it wsn't his fault, and then the doctor came back in, telling Mitchell thst he had to go. He said okay, but before he left he handed me the box.

"Open it when you get to your and your dad's apartment." He smiled and winked, then slipped out of the room.

Just another hour. No surprise my dad didn't show up. I didn't tell Mitchell why my dad wasnt at 'our' apartment either. He was so depressed lately, and had decided to get his own apartment for himself. He said he "Needed some space away from me". I was suddenly very tired, and decided I should sleep. It has been a long day. I layed my small gift on the bedside table, and drifted off to sleep.
