The year is 1903, and your country is in shambles. A horrible war threatens each and every civilian. Bombs rain down like raindrops and gunfire sounds in the streets. Windows crash and house burn. Your only hope is immigration. You stand at the stern of the ship, waving goodbye to your parents as it sales away. You want to be strong, but you see their eyes watering, which instantly causes tears to drip from your own.

"Don't worry!" Says a female voice. "It'll be okay."

You turn around and see a girl with fiery red hair and green eyes- she seems to be around the same age as you: 16. But there's something wrong with her face. She's smiling! Despite everything that's happening, she's still smiling. It had to be a facade, right?

"Ohh, you're right." You say sarcastically. "What could go wrong with a bunch of kids moving to a foreign nation with a foreign language and barley enough money to get by! Maybe we'll end up meeting magical fairies who can make our problems vanish while we're there!"

The girl frowned slightly, but then she smiled again. At that moment, you realize it is a facade. She's acting happy to raise moral. And you can respect that.

"I like this guy," Laughed a guy with black hair as he approached the two of you. "He's realistic." This guy seems to be the same age as you as well. He has black hair which covered one of his dark-green eyes.

"This is my friend, Emma." He tells you, gesturing toward the girl with orange hair. "I'm Ray."

"Nice to meet ya, Ray." You smile as you shake his hand. "I'm [Y/N]." You loosen your grip to let go, but Ray's hand lingers for a few more seconds as he looks you in the eyes and smiles.

"And nice to meet you too, Emma." You shift your gaze to the red head and extend your hand. She shakes it and returns the smile. Then she pulls back.

"Hey!" Emma says, looking around. "Where's Norman?"

"Not sure." Ray responded as he leaned against the edge of the stern. His black hair flowing gently in the breeze.

"Oh goody." You sigh. "I'm the only one who doesn't know everyone already." You find it a bit odd that Emma and Ray seem to know each other when you all just boarded the ship. And now there's some guy named Norman?

"Yeah, that's pretty much true." Ray assured you. "We all grew up together in the same orphanage."

"Wow. Three orphans-turned-immigrants. What a tragic life!" You joke. You don't know why you said it in a joking tone, you meant every word. You were surprised when Emma giggled a bit and Ray smiled. There was something about Ray's smile that you liked. After that, the three of you go silent. But it's not an awkward silence by any stretch. You're happy that you found people to embark on this new chapter with, and they were happy that they found a new friend.

"Hey, there you guys are!" Cried a voice. It was a male with white hair and blue eyes.

"Is this Norman?" You whisper into Ray's ear. He nods.

"Nice to meet you, Norman!" You say as you walk up to him and hold out your hand.

"How did you know my name-" He asks, taken off guard.

"I know everything." You joke.

"Emma told you?"

"Nah. Ray did. I'm [Y/N], by the way."

"Nice to meet you!" Norman smiles, shaking your hand.

Later that afternoon, the four of you were told by one of the ship's staff members that they don't have enough beds for all the children since this boat was originally built only for adults. It explained why there was so few kids.

"I could share one with this guy." Ray volunteers. And you see he's pointing at you.

"Yeah," You shrug. "That's fine. I can share a bed with Ray."
