"Great!" The crew member cheered. "Thanks for being accommodating." Then he gave you four a more serious look. "And you'll get through this." Then, he walks off.

You and Ray look at each other and roll your eyes. You both know you'd be lucky to make it in a new nation with nothing to your name but a few coins left in your pocket. You didn't need his pity. And frankly, it made you a bit angry that he gave it to you.

"Hey guys," Emma says. "Norman and I are gonna explore the ship now."

"Yeah. It's best to get to know the place." Norman adds.

"Alright. Have fun." Ray waves as the two of them walk off. Now it's only you and Ray. But you don't mind. You've been enjoying his company. The sun is setting now, and an orange glow is cast down from the sun, illuminating Ray's race. The two of you are leaning against the edge of the boat, staring at the water which is reflecting the fiery light of the setting sun. The water's so calm. For now, you forget about your old life. You let all worries of your family escape you. As of this moment, you are a new person starting a new life with new people.

"[Y/N]," Ray mumbles, you notice he's blushing a bit.

"Hm?"

"Sorry for volunteering to share a bed. I- I didn't mean to put you on the spot. I just did it in the spur of the moment."

"Yeah! You shouldn't have done that!" You growl. Little does he know, you're messing with him. You're honestly fine with sharing a bed.

"I-" Ray starts. His face is now red as an apple with blush.

"Just messing with ya!" You laugh as you nudge him slightly with your elbow. "I'm actually glad to have a friend already. Even if that means sleeping with them." You wink.

"Well now your making it sound weird." Ray mumbles. It was always weird to you, though. Since you're gay, sleeping with another man is more than just sleeping with another man. But you decide not to tell him your gay, because then he might feel weird about offering to share a bed.

"Nah. You're overthinking this." You tell him.

He smiles at you, his face still lit with the suns orange light. You return the smile. Then the two of you go back to silently staring over the boat. 'I'm kinda glad that I met Ray.' You think to yourself. 'He's kinda cute...' Wait a minute... You didn't give your brain authorization to say that! 'What am I saying? No he's not!' You shake your head slightly, trying to get that thought out of your head. You don't want to start your new life off with falling in love with a straight guy.

You guys are silent for at least five minutes before you speak again.

"Hey, Ray. Do you know where we're going?"

"According to Norman, we're heading to France. He made that guess based on the direction of the ship and the countries that are currently taking in refugees."

"Oh! Wonderful!" You cheer, you're smiling from ear to ear. "That's such a romantic country! And I know a little bit of french!"

Ray raises an eyebrow at you. "I didn't really peg you for a romantic."

"Yeah, well.. I've always been one." You admit, blushing slightly. Then you turn your gaze to the sunset. "It's one of the reasons I'm out here right now. Sunsets are one of the most romantic things in the world! Even if you don't have a significant other by your side, you can still look at it and think of all the other people who are looking at it without a significant other."

"Uh- yeah. I guess your right." Ray smiles, he inches a bit closer to you but you don't notice.

"I don't know much about romance." Ray admits, fiddling with his fingers. "I- I've never been in a relationship."

"Neither have I. But I really want to be in one some day."

"Is that why your excited about living in a romantic country?" Ray asks.

"Yeah! I could meet someone there, maybe. We could fall in love-" You were interrupted by Ray.

"But what if you can't understand someone there?" He snaps. "It's naive to think that you can fall in love with someone who doesn't speak your language!"

Your [Y/E] eyes widen at his comment.

"Don't you think I know that?" You whisper, all the enthusiasm drained from your voice. "I'm just trying to stay optimistic."

"Stay real! Optimism is for people who can't see the future an inch in front of their face. Besides, if you found someone in Paris then..."

"Then what?" You tilt your head at him, raising your eyebrows.

Ray said nothing in response. Instead, he places his hands on your cheeks, holding your head still. Then he crashed his lips into yours! Your eyes widened in shock. But then you gave in and wrapped your arms around him. His lips were soft like silk, and his hands were strong and warm like the sun. And then, he pulled away slowly.

"That didn't go too bad after all." Ray beams.

"Ray..." You mutter.

"Did you like it?" He blushes.

"It was magical!" You cheer. It truly was magical; everything you could have wanted and more. A kiss at sunset, as you embark on a new journey.

"As I was saying, if you found someone in Paris... Well, I couldn't have you!"

And so, the two of you walk to your room to go to bed after this long day. You crawl under the covers together. And for now, you decide to keep your clothes on. You hope that that will change shortly.

"Let's not tell Emma or Norman just yet." Ray whispers into your ear as he lands a kiss on your cheek.

"Okie dokie!" You smile.
