chapter five - just friends.

-

You had been in your room for three days. Ms. Venable hadn't come to find you yet. Nobody had. The only person who acknowledged that you were gone was Mallory, who had been leaving your food in front of your door. Then you heard a knock on your door.

"Ms. y/l/n. Ms. Venable is requesting you in her office at seven pm." It was Ms. Mead.

It was six thirty. You had thirty minutes. You grabbed the hairbrush that was sitting on your night table and brushed through your hair. The last thing you wanted to do was see her. She had hurt you so badly. You got out of bed and got into the shower. You stepped out of the shower without washing your hair because it would take too long and slipped on your nightgown. You had no interest in wearing your formal attire. It was six fifty five. You slipped a robe on and began to walk towards her office.

"Y/n. Nice of you to finally leave your quarters."

Your heart began to race. Ms. Venable didn't mess around when it came to punishment and you were horrified.

"Don't look so frightened y/n. I didn't call you here to punish you."

Relief fell over you and you sighed. "Then why am I here?"

Ms. Venable took a seat. You walked over and sat in the chair opposite of her.

"I wanted to know if you were okay." She tugged on her ear. "You haven't left your room in three days and after, well you know."

"Yeah I do know."

"Listen because I do not do this frequently. I want to apologize. I acted out of impulse and fear that night."

"Are you apologizing for kissing me or for kicking me out of your room the way you did?"

"Both I suppose. Kicking you out of my room the way I did was wrong and cruel. But kissing you was highly inappropriate and just as wrong. But I feel like we had a good kinship going and I don't want that to be dismantled."

You didn't want to still be her friend. After kissing her being her friend seemed like not enough. But you would still be close to her. "I feel the same. I was really enjoying the friendship we had and I don't want it to go away."

She let out a small smile and stood up.

"Maybe playing cards isn't the best option."

You let out a fake laugh.

"Maybe chatting? I don't know what else there is to do here if I'm honest."

"Chatting sounds just fine." She crossed her legs.

"Hit me with any question."

"Any question? Brave."

You shrugged.

"What did you do before all of this?"

"Honestly? Not much."

You sat there talking to her for hours, trying not to jump out of your chair and kiss her.
