My mom runs back to the car. I can't even bare to look at her she just killed my father, at least I think he's dead. She gets in ands starts the car as if nothing happened.

? : surprised? I'm not. Like mother like daughter I guess. I guess you don't know your parents as well as I do

Lauren : mom what w-was that
mom : I'll explain later ok? If we get pulled over, what do you say? Lauren what do you say?
Lauren : my mother who I apparently don't know at all just killed a guy who just happens to be my father but oh wait, he might not be because I don't know what's the truth anymore.
mom ; Laur-
Lauren : what? what are you going to say. Nothing you say could possibly make this better. this is unbelievable are you even my mother?
mom ; of course

*text alert*
? : wrong answer

my face expression goes from sad to mouth completely open in the space of two seconds.

mom? : what's that for.
Lauren : something tells me you're lying.
mom? : oh really. does that something have your birth certificate? that's what I thought.

*text alert*
? : picture message
Lauren : let me tell her.
? : no
Lauren : I have to. She'll never understand otherwise.
? : just trust me, she's not your mother
Lauren : how am I supposed to know that that birth certificate isn't fake.
? : your supposed to trust me
Lauren : I'm not SUPPOSED to do anything
? : we'll see about that

mom : I'm your mother. He wasn't your father. Lauren I was sixteen when I had you. Drunk every night, didn't know what I was doing. Truth is, I don't know who your father is.
Lauren : who was he then?
mom : the guy who thought he was your father.
Lauren : so you lied to him and then killed him. that's amazing.
mom : it wasn't like that...he lied first.
Lauren : really?
mom : yes, really. We were together when I didn't know I was pregnant then he just assumed. He lied more though. He was married the whole time. Married with two kids, promised me he'd leave her and I told him he couldn't leave her. He wouldn't leave me. I broke up with him but he wouldn't leave me alone, he was extremely persistent. He left the house but there was times when I'd be sitting down for dinner with a guy and he'd just appear in the corner of my eye, then disappear.
Lauren : likely story.
mom : Lauren why would I lie about something, someone who caused me so much pain. I was too afraid to date anyone or be with anyone else because he was always there. In the back of my mind. You never knew about this, I made sure you were away from him.
Then she stopped the car.
Lauren : why have we stopped?
mom : we're here.
Lauren : we're talking about this later.

? : lies, lies, lies I'll hand it to her she's a great liar. Not quite great enough.
