I walked down the corridor, towards the bathroom, with a warm smile. As i walked down the corridor, a few heads turned my way. Paying them no mind what so ever, I walked straight to the bathroom and closed the door behind me. I got out my uniform and lied it out on the small table. The uniform consisted of a white blouse, black boots, a grey skirt and black stockings as well as our robes. I slipped the uniform on and tied my hair in two loose braids,
I walked out of the bathroom and back to the compartment, where the boy's were seated in their robes too. I walked into the compartment with a smile, and went back to my reading. After a few minutes, the train stopped, signaling our arrival at Hogwarts. I smiled and put my book away, before leading the boy's off the train. Once we got off, Harry lead us over to a very tall man. He greeted him, and introduced him as Hagrid. Hagrid lead us, and the other first years to some boats and instructed us to go four to a boat. Coincidentally, I was in a boat with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I can tell already, this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
We rowed through the black lake for a minute or two before the Hogwarts castle was finally visible. A few people gasped as we approached the gorgeous building. The boats stopped and we all got out of them, walking towards a woman. She was tall, with her hair pulled back into a tight bun. She wore emerald green eyes and a matching hat. I watched her look around, with misty eyes.
"I am Professor McGonagall, the transfiguration professor. When I come back, I will lead you all to the great hall for your sorting" She said.
She walked back inside and a boy with blonde hair walked up to us.
"So its true then? What they're saying on the train? Harry Potter's come to Hogwarts?" He sneered.
He faced Harry and smirked.
"I'm Draco. Draco Malfoy" He said "This is Crabbe and Goyal".
He gestured to the two boy's behind him before he turned to Ron, who had snickered.
"Think my name's funny do you?" He sneered "Ginger, hammy down robes. you must be a Weasley".
Ron went scarlet and looked to the floor in embarrassment. Draco turned to me and his posture and expression both changed.
"And you are?" He asked, his eyes trailing my face.
"Laicey Espinoza. It's lovely to meet you" I smiled.
He turned back to Harry and addresses both he and I.
"As you can see, there are some wizarding families better than other's. You don't wanna go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there" He said, holding his hand out to Harry.
I watched as Harry glanced from Draco's hand to his face.
"I think I can tell the right sort for myself thanks" He said.
Draco then turned to me with a questioning look.
"I prefer not to judge people by their appearances, after all, looks can be deceiving" I smiled.
He was about to say something else, but Professor McGonagall was back and tapped him on the shoulder with a paper scroll. He scurried back to his friends and she addressed us all.
"Follow me" She said.
We all followed her in a single file line, through the castle and to the great hall. She opened the doors and we walked into a large hall. I looked up to the roof and smiled.
"It's not real. It's enchanted. I read about it in-" Hermione said.
"-Hogwarts a history" I smiled.
We focused our attention back to the professor, who was standing next to a stool which had a hat on it. I watched in amusement as the hat sang, shocking the first years but me and Hermione.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"The hall clapped as the sorting hat finished its song. Professor McGonagall looked at us and pulled out a roll of parchment.
"When I call your name, come up to the stool. I will place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your house" She said.
And so the sorting began. People were sorted into Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Finally, it was Hermione's were turn.
"Granger, Hermione" The professor said.
"Gryffindor!".
"Weasley, Ron".
"Gryffindor!".
"Potter, Harry".
The hall began whispering as Harry walked up to the stool. He seemed to be mumbling something under his breath to the hat.
"Gryffindor!".
"Espinoza, Laicey".
I walked up to the stool with my usual confident stride. I sat on the stool and waited for Professor McGonagall to place the sorting hat on my head. The sorting hat was placed on my head and I felt a presents in my head. The sorting hat.
"Interesting. Cunning and Ambitious, fit for a Slytherin. Loyal and Hard working, Hufflepuff is an option. Witty and smart, Ravenclaw maybe? Braver than all the Gryffindors combined. Smart, Brave and Ambitious. A very dangerous triple threat I see. This is a very hard decision to make. You have friends in Gryffindor, the loyalty could be expanded".
"Gryffindor!" The sorting hat shouted.
I smiled at the Gryffindors welcoming cheers and walked towards the table. I hugged Hermione, Ron and Harry before I was greeted by nearly every Gryffindor. This should be an interesting year.
