I Love You

Thunder rumbles over head
As we lay in your bed
Lightning flashes in the night
While our love burns bright

Rain trickles from the clouds
As the moon makes its rounds
Light beams over our graceful dance
Sweat drips from our tangled romance

Heat radiates from our skin
When the fireworks begin
Moans escape our intertwined lips
As the sun starts to show its yellow tips

Doubts come to play
At the dawn of a new day
Fear strikes its mark
Like an anxious deadly shark

Do you mean it too?
As you murmur "I love you"
Do you believe it too?
When you say "I miss you"

Waves brush along the high tide
As she scurries from your side
Ice cream falls from a child's cone
While you lay there all alone

Tears dribble down her chin
Because she let you in
Now she hurts herself
But your picture still sits on her shelf

Winter comes and goes
But for her it still snows
Until the day her light snuffs out
Not with a whisper but with a shout

Now you sit here at her grave
Holding back tears and acting brave
While you whisper the thing
She never thought you would willingly bring

Your delicate love
Once as strong as a dove
She knows you meant it too
When you say "I really loved you"
