Chapter 41: Mistake (Aria's POV)
"Let me go," I mumbled.
"No," he repeated, keeping a firm grip on my hand.
"Let me go, Alex."
"No."
"I have to go to the bathroom," I laughed, trying to keep my voice down.
"Then let me take you because I cannot sit and watch this play all alone," he said, his voice low.
"It takes no more than five minutes, Alexander. Let go."
He let out a small whimper, begrudgingly letting go of my hand. "If you're not back in five minutes, I'm coming to get you," he said.
"Okay," I sang as I stood up. I was lucky I didn't have to move a huge dress around, I'm just wearing a short sundress. I faced him and tried walking from in front of him but he grabbed my waist and jerked me forward. I fell forward, my hands going to his shoulders to steady myself.
He smirked up at me.
"Alex!" I hissed, smacking his shoulder.
He let go and I straightened myself.
I shot him a playful glare and then scurried out of there. I walked out of the hall and turned right where the bathroom sign pointed. I entered the bathroom and then did my business. I washed my hands and then glanced in the mirror, running my fingers through my hair and then looking at the dress. I brushed the creases out of the dress as I opened the door. I looked down at the dress, making sure it was nice and flowy from my waist down and as I was walking without looking up, I ran straight into someone. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorry!" I looked up, my eyes meeting Adrian's. I resisted the urge to mumble a few curses and forced a smile onto my face. "Hi, Adrian."
"Hi, Aria. I didn't know you were here tonight," he chuckled.
"Yeah, we didn't see you anywhere. Otherwise, we would have said hi," I lied through my smile.
"Oh, you came with Alexander?"
"Of course, who else would I come with?" I chuckled.
"Well, I would have kept you company. Eleanor came too, she's in the hall," he replied.
I smiled awkwardly, "Right. Well, I should get back to the hall. Alex is waiting."
I tried walking around him but he blocked my way. "The interval is about to happen. Do you think you can wait for me? We can head back in together," he suggested.
"Oh, I don't um..." I fidgeted with my fingers, feeling uncomfortable. I don't know how to tell him no.
"I'll just be two minutes," he added.
"No, that's um, that's okay. I can find my seat, don't worry," I stammered.
"I know you can find your seat," he chuckled. "I was just hoping we could have a chat on our way back."
I frowned in confusion.
He stepped closer and I held my breath, trying not to step away so I didn't seem rude. "You see, there's some I need to tell you. About Alexander," he said, his voice getting lower.
"About Alex?"
He could be lying.
"Just two minutes, please?"
"Adrian..."
"Please?"
I ignored my heart which was now beating a little faster and nodded. "Just two minutes, Adrian. I'll leave after that."
