CHAPTER SIX
TONY, STEVE, AND BUCKY

*---*---*---*---*---*

New York City, Stark Home

"Sir, it's time to wake up. Sir, must wake up now. Master Howard is waiting to take the young master shopping for his school supplies."

Unlike most mornings where Tony would groan and shake the hands of Jarvis off of him in an attempt to go back to sleep, he shot up in bed.

"It's weekend?" he asked.

"Yes, sir."

"It's weekend," Tony repeated a smile creeping onto his face.

"Yes, sir."

"It's weekend!"

Tony crawled out of bed maneuvering himself around Jarvis until he was stumbling into the bathroom and taking a quick shower.

Jarvis shook his head at the young master before moving around the room and gathering a suitable outfit for Tony to wear for the day that his father would approve of without question or comment.

Tony didn't even blink as he rushed out of his room and got dressed in the clothes Jarvis set out. He really needed to thank the family house-elf for always saving his ass.

He jumped in front of the mirror and did a quick once-over of his appearance before raking a hand through his short hair and bolting out of his bedroom door.

"Good, you're awake," Howard praised.

He took a moment to look over his son's appearance and expression.

He was dressed presentably in dark grey ironed trousers, black loafers, and a light blue woolen jersey. His hair was styled if not a little poorly but it would do and his face was smiling his brown eyes gleaming with excitement.

Instead of remarking on any of what he saw, Howard dropped his gaze and rather checked the time on his wristwatch.

"Where's Mom?" Tony asked glancing around the large house his evident happiness faltering.

"She has some work things to get done," Howard plainly answered.

"But-" Tony started only to get cut off.

"We agreed that I will be the one taking you to Diagon Alley and she will be the one dropping you off at the train station."

Though disappointed, Tony only nodded in response.

He knew when to pick his battles with his father and on a good day like this he wasn't even daring sarcastically remarking. His mother would see him off on the Hogwarts train and that was more important to Tony than her taking him school supply shopping.

"Mr. Barnes and Mrs. Rogers will also be joining us along with Steve and James," his father informed.

"Okay."

Why did he call him James, he hated being called James. What was wrong with Bucky?

Look, Tony might not necessarily love the guy but he also didn't hate him. He, at least, had enough respect even through his sarcasm and attitude to call him Bucky.

Steve meant a lot to Tony and unfortunately, Bucky meant a lot to Steve. So, it was kind of like a package deal he never asked for and found highly annoying but half the package was really good, so could he really complain all that much?

"Jarvis!" Howard called out. "We're leaving now."

"Yes, Mr. Stark," Jarvis nodded from the doorway his hands clasped together in front of him. "Be safe Master Howard, Young Master Tony."

"We will," Howard assured the house elf. He then looked down at his son and tilted his head slightly, "Come," he ordered.

Tony followed his father's lead and stepped through the fireplace but not before taking a handful of floo powder and clearing his throat. The last thing he needed was to wind up in some forbidden section or worse someone else's home for not speaking clearly enough.

"DIAGON ALLEY!" he yelled after his father.

The familiar feeling of weightless spinning coursed through Tony and he had to ignore the urge to bring up his not yet eaten breakfast. Green smoke then turned to grey and he felt the hard ground beneath his feet again a relieved breath leaving him. But that was before something solid collided from behind him and he was falling out of the fireplace and onto the cobblestone road.

"Tony!" Steve's familiar voice sounded as Tony groaned in pain.

"Mind getting off of me, Rogers?"

Steve scrambled off of his best friend before getting helped up by Bucky, who had, of course, gracefully landed beside them instead of on top of them.

"Sorry, Tony," Steve apologized with a sheepish smile as he held a hand out to him.

Tony didn't even hesitate to take it a smile already on his face as he forgot about what just happened and he hugged Steve.

"Mr. Broody," Tony greeted Bucky when he and Steve pulled apart.

"Stark," Bucky greeted back his voice hard.

"Hello, Howard," they heard Steve's mother Sarah greet Tony's father behind them.

"Hello, Sarah, lovely to see you again," he politely smiled.

"Look at them," she said nodding her head towards their children. "They seem to always find each other no matter what."

"It appears that way, doesn't it?" Howard remarked before a clap hit his back and he glanced to the side. "George," he greeted.

"Howard, been a while," George, Bucky's father grinned.

"Hello, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Barnes," Tony respectively greeted each of them before his father could say anything about him lacking decent manners.

"Ah, Tony, good to see you again, son."

"You too, sir."

"Oh, sweetheart," Sarah smiled giving the young Stark a warm hug.

"Hello, Mr. Stark," Steve and Bucky greeted in unison.

Howard nodded at them appreciatively. "Hello, boys."

"Well, dears, shall we get going?" Sarah asked sweetly her motherly nature comforting them away from Howard's distanced demeanor and George's firm attitude.

All three boys nodded, each of their grins matching the others.

"Where to first?" she asked.

"Wands!"

"Familiars!"

"Books!"

Sarah laughed and George held a ghost of a smile but Howard just sighed.

"Well, how about we get your robes first, hmm?" Sarah asked. "Afterward, Tony can pick then Bucky, and then Steve. How does that sound?"

"Okay, Mom," Steve agreed.

"Good," Bucky shrugged.

"Fine by me," Tony nodded still grinning.

They walked through the door of Madam Malkin's robe shop immediately getting greeted by a friendly-looking middle-aged woman. She had short brown curls and an even shorter stature but that never stopped her from smiling bright and wide whenever she saw new customers.

"Hello, dears, will this be your first fitting?" she asked and all three boys nodded. "That's alright," she reassured. "It's quite easy, just stand on the steps and let the tape measures work their magic," she laughed lightly at her own pun and Sarah smiled, watching her son and his best friends.

Tony was the first one on his step, Bucky following, and then Steve. It took less than five minutes for all the measurements and once they were done robes perfectly fitting each of them were already packed and waiting for them on the paying counter.

"Alright, Tony, where are we going next?" Steve asked, remembering his mother's deal to them as they walked back out the store door.

"Wands!" Tony grinned.
