CHAPTER ONE
RIDDLE AND MALFOY

*---*---*---*---*---*

Wiltshire England, Malfoy Manor

"My love, it's time to wake up."

Lea's eyes fluttered open and she was met with the sight of her aunt, Narcissa Malfoy. She smiled at her but groaned at the thought of waking up and getting out of bed, Lea pulled the covers over her head and willed herself back to sleep.

"Come now, darling," Narcissa said swiftly pulling the sheets off her niece, "your uncle wishes for us all to have breakfast together."

"But Cissa," Lea whined.

"Hush!" Narcissa softly commanded, "get up, get dressed. I'll have a fresh set of clothes waiting for you on your bed when you get out of the shower."

Lea watched as the woman she loved as a mother fluttered about her room drawing the heavy, red velvet curtains back to reveal a blinding amount of sun before clapping her hands gently and dismissing herself from the room.

"Fantastic!" she groaned. Lea forced herself off her bed and over into the bathroom, she took a quick shower and washed her hair before drying it and styling it in a soft braid.

She then returned to her room to find her aunt's promise fulfilled. Sitting on the edge of her bed was a light lilac-colored shirt, a blue denim skirt, and a grey pair of leggings.

Lea, feeling much more awake than she had earlier, skipped out of her room and down the hall before turning the corner and jogging down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning Miss," Teddy, the Malfoy house-elf greeted with a bright smile. "How did Miss sleep?"

"Quite well, thank you, Teddy," Lea smiled back.

"Breakfast will be served in a minute, Miss. Please let Teddy finish it then Teddy will bring it out for Miss and Master Malfoys."

Lea nodded, she slipped out of the kitchen and into the dining room where she spotted Draco sitting face down and fast asleep at the table.

"Poor boy," Narcissa tsked, "his father told him not to stay up and listen to the Quidditch game last night, but does he listen?" she asked and Lea giggled. "Wake him, won't you dear? I'll be back in a moment, I have to go find my husband."

Lea nodded as Narcissa left the dining room, she looked back at her cousin before rounding the table and bending down until her mouth was close to his ear. "WAKE UP! DRACO!" she yelled and he shot up into a sitting position his eyes wide and his heart pounding.

Lea laughed thinking he looked just like a cat when he got scared.

"Blimey, Lea!" Draco exclaimed, "what the bloody hell was that for?"

"Fun," Lea shrugged and smiled. "Late night?" she asked innocently as she took a seat opposite him.

Draco glared at her after finally pulling himself together, his heart rate returning to normal as well as his breathing, but his adrenaline rush remained and he silently cursed Lea for it.

"It was the Magpies against the Boggarts," Draco mumbled.

Lea smiled, "Who won?"

"Magpies," Draco grinned.

The kitchen door swung open a second later revealing Teddy as she pushed a wooden trolley with four metal trays on it towards them. The thing was bigger than she was but she was still determined to use it every morning and every day for breakfast. Teddy set a tray down in front of each of them before placing one at each head of the table.

"Thank you, Teddy," Lea smiled.

"Yes, thank you," Draco agreed with a nod of his head.

"Morning children."

Lea and Draco's heads snapped to the side to see Lucius Malfoy walking in with Narcissa right behind him.

"Morning, Father," Draco greeted.

"Morning, Uncle Lucius."

Narcissa nodded appreciatively at Teddy for the food and the house-elf smiled brightly before bouncing off back to the kitchen.

Lucius took a seat at the head of the table while Narcissa did the same at the opposite end the two sharing a quick glance as they did.

"Mail came early today," Lucius stated out of the blue as he uncovered his breakfast of pancakes, orange slices, and bacon strips.

"Oh?" Lea asked frowning, she wasn't sure what her uncle was getting at but it had to be important. Lucius Malfoy never just did casual talk for the pleasure of it.

"Anything important, Father?" Draco questioned and took a small bite out of his bacon.

"As a matter of fact, yes," Narcissa said drawing the children's attention to her just as Lucius snapped his fingers and two red wax-sealed envelopes appeared in his hand.

"There is one for each of you," he said and slid them across the table until they were knocking against the silver platters.

Lea and Draco shared an equally confused look before picking them up and immediately grinning like madmen.

"It's my Hogwarts letter!" Lea exclaimed and ripped open the seal to slide out the acceptance letter, Draco doing the same opposite her.

Narcissa warmly smiled at her children while only a faint smile ghosted over Lucius' lips.

"This is brilliant!"

"Brilliant?" Draco asked, "it's wicked! Absolutely wicked!"

"Would you two like to go to Diagon Alley this Saturday for your school supplies?" Narcissa softly asked as if to keep the perfect and elated mood for as long as she could.

"Yes!" the two all but yelled both grinning and viciously nodding.

"Alright."

"Do remember what we told you two," Lucius advised, and just like that the mood was broken. He, just like his wife wanted to keep them happy, but he couldn't help but overly stress this specific topic.

"Yes, Father," Draco obediently nodded.

"We remember," Lea agreed.

"Good," Narcissa said her arms reaching out until she was gently holding both their hands, "try not to get involved and make plenty of friends."

Lea forced a smile, her eyes dropping down pointlessly to the table while Draco kept eye contact with his mother, he couldn't help it he loved being able to please his parents it was in his blood.

"All we want is for you to be kept safe," Lucius said in an uncharacteristically gentle tone, "I could not bear it if something were to happen to either of you, do you understand?"

"Yes, Father."

"Yes, Uncle Lucius."

A minute of silence passed, not so much awkward than uncomfortable and maybe even a little depressing before Narcissa spoke up with a smile.

"Well, that's enough of that," she patted their hands and pulled away, "finish up your breakfast, you're Godfather wishes to see you around lunchtime."

Grins were back on their faces.
