Everything was silent. I felt cold glares stabbing into my back. I didn't mind though, I was just saying the truth. Daddy left without even saying goodbye. It was just me and stupid Derek.

"Damn, Avery, didn't know you had such a temper. Very fiery and very improved from what I used to see all those years ago."

He laughed the serious situation off. That was the only thing I actually liked about Derek. He was able to remove the tension within seconds. However, I just ignored him and dished my breakfast. Leftover pizza from the other night. If mom was here, i thought, she would whip up the most amazing meals. Dad never believed in servants, think they're only out to steal his money. Ugh. I took my food into my cluttered room and ate the cold pizza grumpily, staring at an image of my mother, what was the reason for her disappearance and why did she leave me behind?
