——RECAP (part 10)————

"Lucy... I like you... a lot." He spoke. The blonde's eyes grew wide when she felt his left hand touch her shoulder.

"Gray, I-" but she was cut off when he bent down and smashed his lips onto hers, pushing her shoulder against the giant rock behind her. She was in shock for a moment, as his other hand moved to touch her hair. However, the bitter taste of vodka on his lips pushed Lucy out of her frozen state, causing her to furrow her brows. She moved her hands up to his chest, and gently pushed. He pulled away immediately.

The two stared at each other in silence for a second. "Gray, I..." Lucy spoke quietly, "I'm sorry... there's someone else, I can't." He didn't respond, and she didn't want to wait for a response, so she moved from the spot she'd previously stood, and walked back towards camp.

Day 10

Four days had passed. Four whole days of nothingness. This first day or two after the storm, the group had decided not to eat because they lacked supplies. But after that, their hunger was gone. The grumbling in their stomachs stopped. But because of their lack of food, they also lacked energy, and so they spent those four days doing nothing but laying on the beach drinking.

Lucy had passed on drinking before, but now she held her own Tito's jug in front of her, taking swigs every now and then. Natsu and Lucy had had a few moments over the past few days. They'd held hands once or twice, slept next to each other, so on so forth.  But today, Lucy was feeling hopeless. She had made a comment about dying on the island, which bothered Natsu. She decided to give him some space today.

Lucy looked around the beach. Cana was passed out drunk, Gajeel was laying down fiddling with his piercings, Gray, Ajeel, and Dimiria were all sober, and Natsu was writing 'SOS' in the sand with a stick.

The blonde was feeling dizzy from drinking, and laid down on the sand. She let out a sigh. They were going to die on this island.

Gajeel poked Cana's limp body, to which she mumbled words that made no sense.

"Bananas. The s-spoons are.. you dropped my spoon," she mumbled, her eyes still closed.

"Geez, this girl is out of it," Gajeel spoke, "Gray! Come with me to get this alcoholic some water from the spring." Gray said nothing, stood up, and accidentally made eye contact with Lucy. Lucy sent him an awkward smile, to which he sent a short half smile back. He and Gajeel made their way to the jungle.

"Lion king," Cana murmured. "It's the ciircble of liiiyfeee!"

Lucy smiled to herself. She mentally reminded herself not to get that drunk.

In situations like these, the worst thing you could do is get stuck in your head. That's why you make tools, hunt for food, and have conversations. To force yourself out of your head. But now, none of the survivors really spoke, and they were too tired to distract themselves with tasks.

For Lucy, there was nowhere to go. Nowhere to go but her head.

Lucy closed her eyes and imagined herself laying on her childhood bed. White sheets and a pink fuzzy duvet. The dug her fingers into the sand, imagining herself grabbing onto her soft sheets, smiling to herself. But her smile faded, when the white sheets in her mind changed to the old brown ones from her motel room.

Lucy sat up, staring out at the water in front of her. She began thinking of her mother. A woman whose smile was so bright, and whose heart was so big. Her father, who used to bring home banana splits on Friday nights, who left her. Lucy took a sip from the Tito's bottle in front of her, imagining it was the strawberry shake she used to get with her mother at The Angry Mermaid.
