Chapter 1: Christmas Vacation

Kevay and Amelia, Jennabeth’s best friends and roommates, ran into the room screaming.

“FINALLY!!” Kevay announced “The snow is on the ground and vacation is this weekend for Christmas. Could this week get any better!?” Sighing she slumped into the comforter seat.

“You are WAY too excited for this.” Amelia told Kevay, “I mean we haven’t called the boys to see if they wanted to come yet any way. I’m positive it’s polite to give them a day or two to answer before you drag them off to the mountains for “fun” and games.” She taunted.

“Well I’m sure they’ll say yes because we’ve been talking to them about this for months now and they. . . .” Kevay kept arguing, Jennabeth was too distracted by thoughts on her mind to pay too much attention so she walked down the hall to sit in her room and debate on what to pack and think about all the problems she’d been faced with that month. She looked around her small room; looking at the posters on the wall and the books on her small shelf that screamed to be opened and studied for upcoming tests. She ignored the books and kept looking around; as she got to the closet she let out a long sigh.

“Do I really wanna go up into the mountains just to study the whole time?” she whispered to herself.

“No” she looked up in surprise to see Amelia with her hand on her hip, standing in the doorway. “You want to go up into the mountains, leave all your books behind and just relax for the holiday!” she hesitated before going on, “Besides it’ll be fun! We called the boys and all of them are coming but Zayn because he’s hanging out with his girlfriend for Christmas! Plus we looked up the weather and the mountain already has two feet of snow! You love the snow!” she cooed at me. I let out another long sigh. “Okay I don’t care what you say you’re going if we have to pack for you and drag ya out ourselves!” she started at me and I held my hands up in defeat.

“Alright, Alright! Gosh I knew I should’ve locked my door I said glaring at her. She made a face at me, smiled triumphantly, and skipped out.

“I’ll give ya thirty minutes”, she yelled down the hall, “Kavey and I are already packed so you better hurry!”

I stomped out “I will only go on one condition!” I warned her. She looked back cautiously.

“And what is that?” she asked carefully.

“I get to drive my own car up and I’ll meet ya’ll up there, and I promise I will come I just have to pick up a few things. You two can set everything up before the boys get there and” I looked up Amelia had a huge grin on her face. “What?” I asked.

“You mean you’re giving us the key to YOUR cabin the cabin that only you have a key for, the cabin that we’ve never seen but know the exact location for THE CABIN. . . “

“YES!” I interrupted her “So if anything is broken or anything is out of place YOU will pay for it!”  I firmly told her but ended up smiling. “And the tree is already at the cabin you just need to decorate it unless you want to wait for me and the boys so we can all do it together.” I heard running and turned around. Kavey was smiling like an idiot at me.

“Enna-Girl you’re not teasing us are you because if that is the bargain I am totally taking it!” she said excitedly. “I don’t care what Amelia says if she doesn’t take this bargain I will totally sock her in the face” she glared over at where Amelia was standing arms up in the air like she was a criminal. Kavey smiled triumphantly at me “See even I can bring her down, so it’s a deal.”

“Alright, I suppose it is.” I said while reaching into my pocket to get the key off my key ring. I slowly outstretched my hand. Kavey grabbed at it but before she could take it though I pulled my hand back. “Do. Not. Break. Anything.” I said slowly. Then reaching my hand out palm up with the key in it, Kavey took it slowly.

“I pinky promise.” Raising her pinky for me to take with my own which I did. I slowly turned around to go pack my things and put a list together of what I’d need to pick up from the stores. I heard giggling in the kitchen and turned around to see Kavey and Amelia both hovering over Kavey’s hand with the key in it. I hope they don’t break anything I thought to myself as I closed my bedroom door behind me.
