iris doesn't know it, but her parents are not her biological parents. her bio mom is her aunt. her aunt and the father should not have had a kid together because they were abusive to each other and to iris. when her bio parents died her aunt and her husband adopted her. none of the children know and only her grandparents know. before her third birthday she was taken to the doctor's when she found out she has dissociative identity disorder. she has grown to have 3 other personalities with their names being mara, calla, and darcy. as she got older she realized her family was mentally ill too such as nick is schizophrenic, grandma leila is schizophrenic, and gage is bipolar. she had her daughters when she was in other personalities, so her relationship with them is a struggle at times.
