You hear the sounds of your father and his guards riding into Rivendell. "Ada." You breathe, looking up from the book you're reading. You quickly set it down and stand. You rush out of your room, picking up your skirts. You run down a long flight of stairs and see your father talking to Mithrandir. "Ada." You say, pulling up short and walking the rest of the way gracefully, breathing heavily. "Ah, Y/N." Lord Elrond says, holding out his hands to you. You smile and take them. "I am so glad you are safe." You say as he smiles. "Gandalf, you remember my daughter, Y/N." Elrond says, slightly turning you towards Gandalf. You nod. "Mithrandir." You greet. "Y/N, you're growing lovelier by the day. Just like your mother. You look just like her." Gandalf says. "You think I look like Celebrían?" You ask hopefully. "Very much so." He says, smiling. Your smile grows wider and Elrond puts his hands on your shoulders. You turn your head to look at him and he smiles, his eyes getting watery, and squeezes your shoulders.
Your eyes move past him to the thirteen Dwarves and a Hobbit. "Uh, who are our guests?" You ask your father. "Oh!" He exclaims, as if forgetting them. "Yes, yes." Elrond says, turning to the Dwarves. He puts a hand on your back. "Y/N, I want you to meet the Company of Thorin Oakenshield." He says. You look at their prejudice faces and plaster a friendly smile on your face. "Hello." You say kindly. Your eyes rest on a handsome Dwarf that's staring at you, a look of wonder on his face. You blush slightly and your eyes drop to the floor. "Please join us for dinner." Elrond says. The Dwarves exchange unsure glances and then nod.~
You sit at the table with Gandalf, Elrond, Thorin, Bilbo, Fili, and Kili. "Do you not have meat here?" Fili whispers to you. You frown and shake your head. "I might be able to find you some." You answer. "No, no, we're fine. Fili, it's okay. We're fine without meat." Kili says. Fili clenches his teeth and goes back to picking at his food. "I'm sorry you're not enjoying your food." You whisper. "Oh, it's not that we aren't enjoying it; it's just that we don't eat this kind of food." Kili says. You watch him, a slow smile inching across your lips. "In other words, you do not like it..." You say. He flushes and looks to his plate. "Sorry." You mutter. He looks to you, his eyebrows drawing. "Why?" He asks. "Well, because. That was a bit rude." You answer. He waves a hand in front of his face. "Compared to the way we've been acting towards you, that wasn't the least bit rude." Kili says. You smile faintly. "Thanks." You say. Elrond catches your eye and you look at him. He raises his eyebrow and gives you a hard look. You swallow and look to your plate, knowing his meaning.
After dinner, you rest against a stone pillar, looking at the moon. "Hey..." Kili says, walking next to you. You turn and smile, looking at him. "Hey." You say. "It's beautiful out here." He says. "Isn't it?" You say, wrapping an arm around your waist. "Before my mother left for the Undying Lands, she would make my sister, brothers, and me out here to watch the stars." You sigh. "I'm sorry." Kili says, looking up at you. You smile sadly and look out, watching a waterfall. "What have you come to Rivendell?" You ask. He's silent for a moment. "I am sorry, I should not of-" You start. "No, no, don't apologize." Kili says. You look at him. "We're here to reclaim Erebor." He says. You take a step back, your eyes widening. "Erebor?" You breathe. He nods. "Wow." You say. "Brave." You say, raising your eyebrows. Kili laughs softly. "Brave or just plain stupid." He says. You grin. You sit on a stone bench and he follows. "Where are your Dwarf comrades?" You ask. "Ah, they're somewhere. Probably eating again." He answers. You look at him. "And you do not want to join them?" You ask surprised. He flushes slightly in the moonlight. "Um, no." He answers. "Why not?" You ask curiously. "I'd rather spend time with you." Kili says quietly. You turn back to the waterfall, your eyes widening. "Oh." You reply simply, a blush pouring into your face. You slowly put your hand on top of his, staring straight ahead. He entwines his fingers into yours. You chance a glance at him and find him staring at you. Your blush becomes deeper and you look to the ground.
You get up early the next morning and walk to your window, observing Rivendell. You hear someone lowly whistle. "Y/N!" Kili whispers. You look below you. "What are you doing?" You ask, leaning out the window. He grins. "Let's watch the sunrise together." He says. You grin. "I'll be right down." You say. You run out of your room and quickly meet Kili. "I know a perfect place." You say, grabbing his hand. You start running and he follows closely behind you. You run up a flight of stairs that leads to a bridge. You slow to a walk. "Wow..." Kili breathes, taking in the scenery. The bridge lies across a waterfall that lies between two mountains. "I know." You reply. You lead him to the middle of the bridge. "Right here. The sun comes up perfectly in this area." You say. Kili wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you close to him. You smile down at him as he smiles up at you. You wrap your arm around his shoulders and sigh, staring out at the rising sun. "I've never seen anything as beautiful as the rising sun." You say. "I have." Kili says, staring at you. You glance at him and blush, your heart pounding fast. He reaches up and caresses your cheek. He gently takes hold of your chin and pulls your face down to his. He kisses you softly and your eyes flutter closed. "Y/N!" Elrond yells angrily. Your eyes fly open and you jump apart from Kili, touching your lips. "What are you doing?" Elrond asks, glaring at you and Kili. Kili stares at the ground. "Get away from him. Y/N. I'm so ashamed of you. As would your mother." Your dad says. You look up at him, your eyes filling with tears. "Ada." You gasp quietly. "Go to your room and I will deal with you there." He says. You nod and scurry off. You look behind you and see Kili look at you sympathetically. You nod and walk away.~
"What were you thinking?" Elrond asks, pacing. "Kissing a Dwarf? A Dwarf!" He exclaims. "Ada,-" You start. "What!" He exclaims, staring at you. You hang your head. "I-I love him." You say. "You love him? You've known him for a day! A day!" Elrond says. "But it feels like so much for than that." You say quietly. "But it is not." He says firmly. "Didn't mother and you fall in love at first sight?" You ask, looking at him. He pulls upright, staring at the wall. "That-that was different." He whispers, voice catching. "How?" You ask, shaking your head. "You are an Elf. Immortal. He's a Dwarf. Mortal." Elrond says. "But Ada-" You say. "No, Y/N. This has to end." He interrupts. Tears fill your eyes and he glances at you. "I am sorry. But it's better for both you and him." He says. You sniff and brush away a tear. "Excuse me." You say, brushing past him and leaving the room.
You walk outside, stalking off your anger. You run into Lindir and stop. "Oh, sorry." You mutter. "M'lady, are you all right?" He asks. You sigh and your shoulders drop. "No, no I am not." You whisper. "Is there anything I can help with?" He asks. You sniff and shake your head, giving him a polite smile. "No, I am afraid not." You answer. "Maybe lord Elrond will be able to help-" Lindir starts. You shake your head. "No, no, it's all right. Excuse me." You say, walking past him, tears sliding from your eyes.
You walk across a stone walkway and see Kili sitting on a bench. You immediately retreat a few steps backwards. "Y/N!" Kili exclaims. You stop and look to the floor as he comes running over to you. He picks up your hands. "What did he say?" He asks wistfully. You painfully drag your eyes up to meet his. "I'm sorry." You whisper, slowly pulling your hands from his. "What?" He asks, eyes painful. "I am so sorry." You whisper again, your voice cracking, taking a step backwards. You shake your head, crying. "I am so sorry." You repeat. Kili's eyes fill with tears and his chin quivers. "No..." He whispers, shaking your head. You meet his eyes and let out a quiet sob. You turn on your heel and flee, leaving Kili to his heartbreak.
You wake up the next morning to the sound of Dwarves talking from below your open window. You quickly get out of bed and peek out the window, seeing the Company getting prepared to leave. Kili look up at you and your eyebrows draw, your mouth slipping open, on the verge of tears. You tear away from the window and get dressed. You rip open your door to find Elrond about to knock. "Ada." You say surprised. "Y/N, I've made a terrible mistake." He says, taking your shoulders in his hands. "What?" You ask. "I think your mother would of accepted your love for the Dwarf. And I was wrong to tell you no. Please forgive me." He says, his eyes filling with tears. He pulls you into tight hug. "You're-you're forgiven. But, ada, what made you change your mind?" You ask, hugging him back. "I was thinking about it all of last night. I finally realized what your mother would have done. And I had to tell you." He says. You pull back. "But they're leaving." You say. "Then go to him, Y/N. Go to him." Elrond says. You kiss his cheek. "Thank you, ada." You breathe. ~
You quickly descend the stairs. "Kili." You whisper. He turns to look at you and silently breaks apart from the Company. You grab his hand and pull him into a secret corner. "I love you, Kili." You say. "But what about your father?" He asks. "He said it was okay. He accepted it." You answer. Kili grins and cups your neck. "I love you so much, Y/N." He says. You lean down and kiss him deeply. "Kili!" Fili exclaims. "Time to go!" He adds. Kili breaks apart with a sigh. "I can't plead with you to stay?" You ask, biting your lip. He sighs again. "I'm sorry." He mutters. You smile and caress his cheek. "That's okay. Reclaim your homeland, Kili." You say. He looks at you and covers your hand with his. "I will come back for you, I promise." He says. You kiss him once more. "I'll be waiting." You say. He smiles. "Kili, come on!" Fili says. "Good luck." You say. Kili takes your hand and kisses it. "Thank you. I love you." He says. He reluctantly breaks apart from you and rejoins the Company. "I love you too." You whisper.
