"Hey James." I muttered into my phone, balancing it between my shoulder and ear.
"Hey Doll. I know its your off today but this can't wait."
Intrigued, I asked,"What's up?"
"So Retune loved your album and wants to sign you, like for the long haul."
"Oh my god! Seriously?"
"Their parent label, Platinum wants you. The LA Platinum!"
"LA? Fuck that's fancy."
"Trust me, I know. They've launched all the sensational pop stars."
My heart raced faster, "I can't believe its really happening!"
"It could be the break you're looking for. Think about it. They would like a meeting on the twentieth."
"That early, it's seventh today."
"These things don't wait for anyone. Meet with them, hear out the pitch. Then make up your mind."
"Hear them out? It's our dream! Of course I'll hear them out."
"I'll set it up."
I threw the phone on my bed, smiling.
"Hey, just gonna steal your necklace and go." Donna rushed in.
"Which one?" I asked as she rummaged through my vanity.
She flashed me a silver necklace, "I'm going out with Xav. This'll look perfect."
"Cool." I nodded.
"By the way, who was on the phone? You sounded excited." She asked.
Shaking my head, I replied, "Uh...no one. Just the studio manager confirming some paperwork."
Lying wasn't the best option, I know. But as always, it was the easier one.
What if it's too good to be true? Deciding to keep it to myself, I simply smiled.
"Ugh." She groaned, "I hate paperwork. Anyway, I'm gonna take a bath. You're helping me get ready."
"Alright boss."
