November POV

I made it to work 5 minutes late and I can feel the irritation coming off my boss Baely. I sent a quick apologetic smile and returned my focus to the speaker.

After the meeting I sent a text to Carrie. My best friend from since I was 3. She is almost like a sister to me.

After texting her about my where abouts, I  got back to working on some files I had to complete. I was so engrossed in the files I didn't even notice that Carrie was knocking on the slightly open door.

" Yo bitch, what are you doing?"

" Nothing really. I was just about to grab some lunch, wanna join?"

We usually ate our lunch together since she just worked on the other side of the building.

I took off the lid from my salad that I had packed the night before and started to eat.

"Sooooo, anything you want to tell me?" Carrie looked up at me though her lashes with a slight smile.

I looked back confused. We worked in the same building and spent almost every minute together so I didn't understand what I  she thought I had to share.

"what do you mean?"

"You know, any interesting things happening in our life?"

"No, why"

"Oh no reason, just having a conversation."

Although I was confused to no end, I just left it. Carrie had been like this as long as I had known her. She would tell me whatever it was later so why stress out about it now?

We talked about other things for a while like the cases we had worked on and the major test that was coming up. Even though we were technically already surgeons, after a year of internship, we had to write another test about all the things we learned and more. If we pass, we go onto residence. If we fail well then too bad, so long.

I have studied really hard myself and in study groups with some of the other interns. My dream has to be a surgeon since I was 8 years old. I worked hard to put myself through med school and work 2 jobs to pay for everything. Luckily this nice old lady who owned a bakery was nice enough to let me stay in her house. I didn't even have to pay rent, instead I would do some chores and help around the bakery when things got too crowded.

After about 30 minutes my break was over so we said our good byes and wet back to our stations. I looked at my planner and saw that I had to check up on a patient so I headed off to her room.
