Grillby walked down the reflecting glass stairs that led up to his bedroom as he rubbed his eyes.
"Who would be knocking at this hour?" He asked himself, as he made his way through his living room, waving and smiling to his fish tank on the way there.
He stopped in front of the door, sighed and mentally prepared himself, taking a breath. He opened the door slowly into the pitched dark night
"Uh.. h-hello." A small voice stuttered. Grillby pulled his eyes down to see a small child wearing a purple and blue jumper. He quickly noticed that they were leaning on one leg and clutching their arm. This seemed to wake Grillby up.
"You're hurt." He said quickly, all his instincts telling him to shut the door. He was supposed to be the bad one.
"Oh, no no! It's just my training" They said with a smile that Grillby quickly identified as fake. Instantly his flames started flickering brighter and redder. His eyes located the pin with the bright blue fist he had learned to despise. His face heated up with burning anger. He forced it down and remembered there was an injured child at his door. He stepped aside and gestured for them to come in.
"Even so, you should come in so I can help treat your injuries." He said with as much gentleness he could with his mind still thinking about the academy. The child nodded and walked through the door hesitantly and looked around. He saw the surprise on their face. He grimaced. The house was big, but insanely empty for only one person.
"Woah this house is huge!" They said excitedly, running around and then ultimately jumping on the couch. Their energy made Grillby smile. He hadn't seen that type of energy in quite a while.
"Yeah, I have a big income." He said, trying to work his way around his profession.
"You must if sans had your address!"
Grillby immediately froze up when he heard his name. Of course the one person he met from the academy was a pupil of him Grillby thought. He forced himself to not lash out at the child. He clenched his fist and walked over to the kitchen island that was connected to the living room.
"You hungry?" He asked, though he knew if they were training under sans they most definitely were. He forced his days as an academy teacher out of his head.
They aggressively nodded their head in response, which confirmed Grillby's suspicion. He smiled and made his way over to the pantry to decide on something to cook
